Hyundai BAYON Design Sketches Revealed Ahead of India Launch

Hyundai India has unveiled the first design sketches of the upcoming BAYON. The sketches cover both the exterior and interior, and they are informed by what Hyundai calls its “Art of Steel” design philosophy. The specs, pricing, and a full look at the car are still to follow in the coming weeks.

Hyundai is positioning this car squarely around technology and intelligence, closing its name reveal film with the line “Intelligence ON.”

Simon Loasby, Senior VP and Head of Hyundai Design Center, described the intent behind the BAYON's design,

“Our goal was to create an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, where intelligent technology and thoughtful design come together for modern urban lifestyles. A high-tech interior within a tough exterior.”

What the Design Sketches Show

The front exterior sketch shows a wide, low bonnet with strong character lines running across it, flanked by prominent fenders on either side. The H-Edge lighting element sits along the leading edge, and the lower front fascia has a chunky, architectural treatment with defined bumper geometry.

The overall front-end character is wide and assertive rather than tall and boxy.

The interior sketch reveals a cabin built around a layered, angular centre console layout with a floating screen cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and red accent highlights. Hyundai describes it as being designed for “tech-savvy customers”, expected to mean dual displays, wireless connectivity, and likely a connected ADAS suite on higher trims.

What the BAYON Could Offer

Based on what has been confirmed and what spy shots have shown, the India-spec BAYON is expected to measure around 4.2 metres, placing it between the Venue and Creta.

Interior features likely include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. None of this is confirmed yet.

Expected Powertrain

Turbo-petrol and CNG options are expected, paired with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Hyundai has not confirmed the engine lineup yet.

Expected Price and Rivals

Pricing is expected to fall between Rs 10-15 lakh ex-showroom. The BAYON will likely compete with the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
