Sonet and Carens Clavis Hybrids
Both hybrids are tied to their respective next-generation models. The second-gen Sonet is expected in 2027 on the K1 platform, which already underpins the Venue and Syros and is compatible with hybrid and electric powertrains. The hybrid powertrain itself may not arrive until 2028 or 2029, after the car's initial launch.
The Carens Clavis hybrid will follow a similar path, also arriving with the next-gen model by 2029. It is expected to share its setup with the Seltos hybrid, which is due in 2027 and reportedly built around the 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The Seltos hybrid is effectively the engineering foundation for both programmes, so its 2027 timeline is worth watching closely.

The Carnival hybrid is on for a 2026 launch. Its global version pairs a 1.6-litre turbo petrol with a hybrid system producing 242hp and 367Nm, through a 6-speed automatic with front-wheel drive.
Kia also confirmed a locally developed and manufactured B-segment electric SUV for India, expected around 4.2 metres in length and slotting between the Syros and Seltos. Specifications are yet to be finalised.
By 2030, Kia aims to have 10 models on sale in India, with eight running some form of electrified powertrain.
