Skoda India is evaluating CNG powertrains for the Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia, with Brand Director Ashish Gupta confirming all three are open candidates, as they share the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the MQB A0-IN platform.
The push is not just about fuel cost savings. The Middle East crisis and ethanol blending policy uncertainty have already begun eroding petrol's market share, and CNG demand has moved well beyond its traditional fleet and budget buyer base.

Why the Performance Question Matters
Skoda's engineering team has been given a clear brief. A 10 to 15 percent drop in power output is considered an acceptable trade-off with CNG, but the brand does not want these cars to feel neutered in the process.
The Kylaq's segment is the volume priority, though Gupta has noted that even buyers at higher price points are increasingly open to CNG when the running cost savings are compelling.
Skoda Is Also Expanding Its India Footprint
This is part of a wider period of momentum for Skoda India. The brand posted close to 100 percent sales growth last year and is now expanding its dealer network aggressively, having reached 190 cities and 340 touchpoints in the first half of 2026, against a 200-city target by year-end.

Gupta has also flagged a 7-seater or larger SUV as a significant gap in Skoda's India lineup that the brand wants to address at some point.
However, no launch timelines have been shared. This remains at the evaluation stage, and Skoda has not indicated which model would arrive first.
