Maruti Suzuki India Limited
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the Indian automotive market with a strong performance in December 2025. The company reported total domestic passenger vehicle sales of 178,646 units, calculated by excluding 3,519 light commercial vehicles from total domestic sales of 182,165 units.
Growth was primarily driven by the utility vehicle segment, alongside the continued strength of its compact car portfolio.
Key contributors included the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Invicto and the just launched Victoris in the SUV and MPV categories. Demand in the hatchback and sedan segments remained steady, supported by strong sales of the Swift, Baleno, and the all-new Dzire. Maruti Suzuki highlighted that its wide range of powertrain options, including CNG and hybrid offerings, played an important role in sustaining market leadership throughout the year.
Hyundai Motor India
Hyundai Motor India Limited concluded the year on a positive note, recording total sales of 58,702 units in December 2025. This figure included domestic sales of 42,416 units and exports of 16,286 units. The company’s SUV-focused strategy continued to deliver results, with SUVs accounting for a large share of domestic volumes.
The Hyundai Creta remained the brand’s top-performing model, followed by the Venue and Exter.
Hyundai also reported rising demand for its premium offerings such as the Verna and Alcazar. The company reiterated its emphasis on safety and technology, particularly through the expansion of ADAS features across multiple models in its lineup.
Tata Motors (Passenger Vehicles)
Tata Motors posted a solid performance in the passenger vehicle segment in December 2025, with domestic sales of 50,046 units. Including exports of 473 units, total sales for the month stood at 50,519 units. The company retained its position among the top three passenger vehicle manufacturers in India, supported by its New Forever product range.

The Tata Punch and Nexon continued to drive volumes, while premium SUVs such as the Harrier and Safari witnessed consistent demand. Tata Motors also reaffirmed its leadership in the electric vehicle segment, noting steady growth across models like the Nexon EV, Tiago.ev, and Punch.ev, supported by expanding charging infrastructure nationwide.
The new Sierra clocked 70,000 units in booking and over 1 lakh interests and will be likely the best selling Tata car form January 2026 onwards
Mahindra & Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra’s passenger vehicle division, focused entirely on utility vehicles, recorded domestic sales of 50,946 units in December 2025. The performance further reinforced Mahindra’s stronghold in the SUV segment.
Models including the XUV700, Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic, Thar, and Bolero continued to face extended waiting periods due to sustained demand. The company also highlighted the positive contribution of the XUV 3XO in the compact SUV space. We are also keenly awaiting the 7XO refresh to be launched next week
Mahindra stated that it is actively scaling production capacity to address demand for its flagship Twin Peaks range.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported strong growth in December 2025, with total sales of 39,333 units. Domestic sales accounted for 34,157 units, while exports stood at 5,176 units. The growth was driven by an expanded product portfolio and strategic collaborations.
The Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta continued to lead the MPV segment. Other strong performers included the Fortuner, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Glanza.
Kia India
Kia India reported wholesales of 18,659 units in December 2025. The brand maintained consistent momentum by focusing on feature-loaded products and a premium retail experience, helping it remain among India’s top-selling carmakers.
The Kia Seltos and Sonet remained the brand’s highest-selling models, while the Carens MPV also delivered stable volumes.
The company credited updates to the Sonet and its Seltos-led strategy for steady year-end performance.
JSW MG Motor India
JSW MG Motor India closed December 2025 with wholesales of 6,500 units. For the full calendar year 2025, the brand recorded a 19 percent year-on-year growth, reaching total sales of 70,554 units. A major milestone was the brand surpassing one lakh cumulative electric vehicle sales in India by year-end.
The MG Windsor EV emerged as a standout performer, becoming one of the country’s best-selling electric cars. Other key models included the Hector, ZS EV, and Comet EV. MG also expanded its premium footprint with the launch of MG SELECT, its luxury retail channel, which reported a 38 percent month-on-month growth in December, supported by models such as the Cyberster.
Honda Cars India
Honda Cars India reported domestic sales of 5,807 units in December 2025, reflecting a 3.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The company also exported 2,352 units during the month. Performance was supported by year-end promotional offers and stable demand for its core products.
Sales were driven by the Elevate SUV, City sedan, and Amaze. Honda noted that the Amaze continues to appeal strongly in the entry-level sedan segment, while the Elevate has helped the brand regain traction in the competitive mid-size SUV category
Volkswagen
Volkswagen saw a dip in December, reflecting pressure from rivals and a narrower product range. The brand is preparing updates for the Taigun and Virtus, which are expected to bring enhanced safety tech, feature additions and improved drivability. Volkswagen is also focusing on strengthening after sales service and digital retail experiences.
Renault
Renault delivered strong growth in December, driven by demand for the Kiger and Triber. The biggest boost ahead will come from the new generation Duster, expected to launch with a bold design, modern interiors and advanced safety features. Renault is also evaluating hybrid powertrains to improve efficiency.
Nissan
Nissan’s domestic volumes remained limited in December, but the brand is preparing a major reset for India. An all new Tektonand Gravite MPV is expected to arrive soon, featuring updated styling, better mileage and improved cabin tech.
