Every E85-Compatible Car Announced In India

So far, the list contains just one car, but it is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years as more manufacturers introduce their own E85- and E100-compatible vehicles. Maruti Suzuki unveiled the WagonR Flex Fuel today, although the event was largely focused on the government's ethanol and biofuel initiatives.

More details, including specifications, features, pricing, and launch timelines for the WagonR Flex Fuel, are expected to be revealed soon.

We will continue to update this list as new flex-fuel cars are launched in India.

Wagon R Flex Fuel E85

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR Flex Fuel is a significant milestone for the Indian automotive industry as it becomes the first mass-market passenger car from the country's largest carmaker to support E85 fuel. The vehicle is powered by an ethanol-compatible version of Maruti Suzuki's petrol engine and is capable of running on fuel blends containing anywhere from 20 percent to 85 percent ethanol.

Apart from the special Flex Fuel badging seen on the showcased vehicle, the model retains the familiar tall-boy design and practical cabin layout that have made the WagonR one of India's best-selling cars for decades. Maruti Suzuki says flex-fuel technology can help reduce dependence on imported crude oil while lowering tailpipe emissions.

The launch also aligns with the Indian government's push towards alternative fuels and higher ethanol blending. While the company has not yet revealed complete specifications, fuel-efficiency figures, pricing, or a market launch date, more details are expected in the coming months as Maruti prepares the model for commercial introduction.
