Last month, Team-BHP spotted a fully undisguised Honda WR-V RS in Mumbai undergoing testing, sparking fresh speculation about a possible compact crossover from Honda aimed at the hotly contested subcompact SUV segment.

While Honda has yet to officially confirm its India plans, these sightings have reignited interest among enthusiasts.

Here is everything you need to know about the WR-V RS, if it is ever formally confirmed for the Indian market. It is also worth noting that Honda sells a model called the WR-V in Japan, which is essentially a rebadged Elevate exported from India. The model discussed here, however, is the global-spec WR-V RS, which is a completely different product.

Exterior

Drawing cues from international versions and recent spy images, the expected Honda WR-V features a rugged yet contemporary crossover design. Highlights include a bold front grille, slim LED headlights with DRLs, muscular wheel arches, roof rails, and diamond-cut alloy wheels up to 17 inches on higher trims like the RS.

Globally, it measures around 4,060 mm in length with a 2,485 mm wheelbase and offers approximately 207 mm of ground clearance,

Interior

Inside, the global WR-V offers a modern and practical cabin layout with a dual-tone dashboard and seating for five. Boot space stands at around 380 litres.

Feature highlights from overseas models include an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, keyless entry, a multifunction steering wheel, and a strong safety package with up to six airbags. Top variants may also get Honda Sensing ADAS, although Indian specs could differ.

Engine

Internationally, the WR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing around 121 PS and 145 Nm, paired with a CVT or manual gearbox. For India, Honda may also consider a smaller 1.2-litre petrol for better pricing and efficiency. No diesel or hybrid option is expected.

Launch, Price and Rivals

If approved for India, the Honda WR-V could launch around Late 2026. Expected prices may range from ₹8 lakh to ₹13 lakh ex-showroom. Rivals would include the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
