Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Phantom Blaq Edition of the Grand Vitara, celebrating 10 years of their premium NEXA dealerships. Exclusively based on the top-end Alpha+ Strong Hybrid variant, this Phantom Blaq Edition gets a matte black finish on the outside with minor interior tweaks, retaining the features and technicalities from the standard Grand Vitara.
What’s Different?
On the outside, the Phantom Blaq Grand Vitara comes with a satin-matte black wrap, a glossy black grille, and newly designed blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels. Step inside, and you’ll find an all-black interior theme with champagne-gold accents replacing the silver ones on the standard variants, and perforated faux-leather upholstery, lending the cabin a more premium feel.
Being based on the Alpha+ Strong Hybrid variant, it continues to offer premium features such as the 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and a wireless charger.
What’s Unchanged
The Phantom Blaq Edition shares its mechanicals with the standard Grand Vitara Alpha+ Strong Hybrid. It continues to be underpinned by Suzuki’s Global-C platform, shared with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
The Grand Vitara hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 116 hp and 141 nm of torque, and mated to an e-CVT gearbox with front-wheel drive.
ARAI claimed fuel economy stands at 27.97 km/l, with real-world figures hovering around an impressive 23 km/l. For reference, the non-Hybrid Grand Vitara, powered by the 1.5-litre Smart Hybrid petrol engine, delivers around 15-17 km/l in real-world driving conditions.
Price Difference
The Grand Vitara Alpha+ Strong Hybrid e-CVT is priced at ₹19.92 lakh (ex-showroom). The Phantom Blaq Edition would cost nearly ₹21 lakh, demanding a ₹1.05 lakh premium (₹1 lakh for the package and an additional ₹5,000 worth of additional insurance), making it a style-focused upgrade for buyers seeking exclusivity and design flair.
Solely in terms of price range and aesthetics, the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition competes with the Scorpio N Carbon Edition and the Dark Editions of the Tata Harrier and Safari and Creta Knight edition
