Tata Motors has enhanced the safety credentials of its bestselling compact SUV, the Nexon, by introducing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology. This update comes shortly after Nexon claimed the top spot as India's best-selling car in September 2025, with over 60,000 units sold, thanks to festive discounts and the updated GST reforms.
The Level 2 ADAS package is exclusive to the top-spec Fearless+ PS variant with the turbo-petrol engine paired to the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) automatic. It includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring, high beam assist, and traffic sign recognition. These features use radar and camera sensors on the front bumper and windshield to detect obstacles to assist drivers in real-time, reducing collision risks on busy roads and highways.
At ₹13.53 lakh ex-showroom, this variant comes at a reasonable ₹26,000 to ₹27,000 premium over its non-ADAS counterpart. The inclusion of ADAS builds on the Nexon's existing 5-star GNCAP rating, further cementing it as one of the safest cars in its segment.
Along with this safety upgrade, Tata also unveiled the Red Dark Edition across five variants - now including petrol, diesel, and CNG powertrains for broader appeal. Starting at ₹12.44 lakh ex-showroom, it adds a premium of ₹27,000-28,000 over the standard variants. This edition sports an Atlas Black exterior with piano black accents on the grille, roof rails, and skid plates, along with red highlights and a distinctive Red Dark badge.
Inside, the cabin features Granite Black surfaces with red leatherette upholstery, ventilated seats, diamond quilting, contrast stitching, and #DARK-embroidered headrests. Upgrades like rear sunshades and themed graphics on the 10.25-inch digital displays add further premium appeal. The ADAS-enabled Red Dark petrol DCT variant is priced at ₹13.81 lakh.
Powertrain choices on the Nexon remain unchanged, with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (118 BHP, 170 Nm) with a 5/6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, or 7-speed DCT, a 1.5-litre diesel (116 BHP, 260 Nm) paired to a 6-speed manual or AMT, and a factory-fitted CNG (98 BHP, 170 Nm) with only a 6-speed manual transmission.
Top-end variants get a 10.25-inch touchscreen and driver's display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 9-speaker JBL audio, wireless charger, 360-degree camera, six airbags, and electronic stability control (standard across all variants). Recent GST revisions have cut prices by up to ₹1.55 lakh across the lineup, ranging from ₹7.32 to ₹14.15 lakh ex-showroom.
These updates have made advanced safety more accessible in the sub-4m SUV segment, positioning the Nexon even better to compete against rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Maruti Brezza.
