Nissan Gravite CNG Launched With Twin-Cylinder Retrofitted Setup

Nissan India has introduced a government-approved CNG retrofit kit on its Gravite 7-seater MPV, priced at an additional Rs 82,999 (introductory) over the standard petrol variants.

Customers can get it installed at authorised Nissan dealerships.

The kit features a twin-cylinder setup with two 25-litre CNG tanks stacked vertically in the boot. This arrangement keeps the full 7-seat layout intact, but leaves little to no boot space. Removing the third row seats when not fully loaded should free up more space, however.

The system is ICAT-approved for safety and reliability, and has been developed and quality-checked by Motozen. Nissan is also offering a 3-year or 1,00,000 km third-party warranty on the kit components.

Interestingly, this retrofit setup is different from the upcoming factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG version expected in its Renault sibling, the Triber, which uses an underbody tank layout. This is largely due to Renault upgrading from its current CMF-A to the new RGEP (Renault Global Entry Platform).

The Gravite continues to use its 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72hp and 96Nm, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. It includes a convenient fuel filling point under the fuel lid and smooth switching between petrol and CNG modes.

The petrol Gravite is priced between Rs 5.65 lakh and Rs 8.94 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG option is available in 60 cities across 16 states.
