Nissan India has introduced a new corporate leasing programme. This initiative, launched in partnership with Avis India, covers both of Nissan’s current offerings in the country - the Magnite and the recently launched Gravite.

With this move, Nissan aims to cater to the growing segment of corporate professionals and businesses who prefer the convenience of usage over the traditional responsibilities of car ownership.

Details of the Nissan Leasing Plan

The leasing programme is designed to be a comprehensive solution for customers. Under this arrangement, the monthly rental for a Nissan vehicle starts at ₹9,399, excluding taxes. The actual cost depends on the specific variant and the chosen tenure. Customers can opt for a lease period extending up to 60 months with a total usage limit of 50,000 kilometres.

While Nissan handles the distribution and initial customer interaction, Avis takes charge of the entire lease lifecycle, including vehicle procurement, registration, insurance, and periodic maintenance.

By bundling these services into a single monthly fee, the programme eliminates the need for a large upfront down payment and the recurring costs of service and insurance renewals.

The leasing option is available for the Magnite and the new Gravite

The Magnite sub-compact SUV has been a consistent performer for Nissan, known for its sharp design and aggressive pricing. It is offered with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, paired to manual transmission, AMT, and CVT.

The Gravite, on the other hand, is a relatively new addition to the Nissan lineup. It is a sub-4-metre three-row MPV that focuses on practical family mobility. It gets the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol from the Magnite, mated to a manual and an AMT. It offers a flexible 5+2 seating configuration.

Now, some of you may be confused between leasing and subscription models. Basically, both are all-inclusive models where you pay a monthly fee to use a car, but they serve slightly different purposes.

Leasing

Car Leasing is typically aimed at corporate employees or businesses, usually involving a longer commitment, often ranging from three to five years. The monthly payment covers the use of the vehicle, insurance, and maintenance.

At the end of the term, you can simply return the car to the leasing company and upgrade to a new one (repeating the lease cycle), or take ownership of the existing car by paying a residual value.

One of the biggest advantages for salaried professionals is the potential for tax savings, as lease rentals are often deducted from their taxable income.

Subscription Plans

Car subscriptions are a much newer phenomenon in India, led by brands and platforms like Revv, Zoomcar, and even manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Think of it like a Netflix or gym membership for a car.

Subscription plans are designed for those who do not want to be tied down to a long-term contract. You can subscribe to a car for as little as a month or for up to three years. These plans are entirely all-inclusive. The monthly fee covers insurance, service, and even roadside assistance.

This model is ideal for those of you who are in a city for a short-term project or those who prefer changing cars very often. Since there is no long-term commitment, the monthly fee for a subscription is usually higher than a corporate lease rental.

In both cases, the primary benefit is the lack of a heavy down payment and the absence of resale anxiety.

Since you don't own the car, you don't have to worry about its depreciating value or the hassle of finding a buyer when they want to upgrade to a newer model.
