Mercedes-Benz has offered an early look at the interior of its upcoming C-Class electric, before its world premiere on 20 April in South Korea, which also will be live-streamed at 12:30 pm CEST.
With what we can gather from the official images, it is clear that Mercedes is abandoning the minimalist cabin approach followed by rivals like Tesla.
Instead, the German automaker has set its aim towards outclassing its competition by turning the cabin of the C-Class electric into a highly digitalised and immersive luxury package, mainly through the massive display at the front.
Here's everything you need to know:
Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV MBUX Hyperscreen & Display Tech

The display is a massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which is a glass surface that stretches full width of the dashboard and where Mercedes has packed 10 million pixels, showcasing high resolution graphics for both the instrument cluster and personalised content.
It features independently adjustable brightness zones so the front passenger can consume personalized entertainment without distracting the driver. This display follows the same format as in the GLC EV, signalling that the brand is looking to bring this approach in their core models.
The MBUX Superscreen is also offered, which is in triple-display arrangement and that still stays heavily digital, but at least preserves the sense that there is a dashboard around it.
Even though touch-glass over physical buttons might seem modern, there is still some pushback against by some who prefer the latter. I am in one of those. To me, physical controls offer more trustful operation that a touchscreen will never be able to impart, especially during motion and in highly busy rides.
Gladly, Mercedes has not entirely abandoned these controls, as the steering wheel and the centre console get some.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV New Seats, Material Quality & Vegan Certification

Aside the displays, the C-Class electric offers several things inside that I find worth paying attention to. This includes seats that are electrically adjustable with memory, four-way electro-pneumatic lumbar support, full-backrest massage, ventilation, and 4D sound. For long rides, I find this to be highly comfortable.
As for the materials used, the Softtorino leather grain gives the interior an upmarket feel from the base trim. Also sport seat buyers get the Twisted Diamond Nappa leather with diamond perforation and contrasting stitching, while AMG Line trims add moccasin stitching on the bolsters.
I also find it commendable that Mercedes went for independent certification from The Vegan Society, where every soft-touch surface qualifies, from seat upholstery to carpeting. This makes the EV the second car in the world to earn that designation, after the GLC.
In addition, three colour schemes are offered - deep black, warm beech brown, and ivory beige.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV Ambient Lighting & Climate Control
The interior also offers ten ambient lighting styles, across the instrument cluster, control elements, and door panels. It even extends to the optional SKY CONTROL panoramic roof, which turns the headliner into a field of many illuminated stars.
Though Mercedes is being generous here, one could see some setting it day one and never touching it again.
As for the climate system, it is common for many EV's to struggle in cold weather, due to the energy required to heat up the cabin quickly.
Mercedes claims to have addressed this issue with a newly developed automatic climate control system, which heats up the cabin twice as fast as a combustion equivalent would, at -7°C over a 20-minute journey with only half the energy used, .
