Mercedes-Benz has launched a limited-run ‘Celebration Edition’ of the EQS 580 in India. Priced at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom), the EV is limited to just 50 units and commemorates a 73% year-on-year growth in EV sales for the brand.
Rear Seat Comfort
One of the most significant upgrades in the Celebration Edition is the improved rear seat comfort. Mercedes-Benz has added the Rear Seat Comfort Package, which includes multi-contour rear seats with massage and lumbar support. These seats can now recline by up to 38 degrees, offering a more relaxed posture.
The Chauffeur Package further enhances the experience by allowing the front passenger seat to tilt electronically, creating more legroom for the rear occupant. The interior is also wrapped in premium Nappa leather upholstery and features stylish designer belt buckles for an added sense of exclusivity.
Premium Features
Apart from the added comfort in the rear, the Celebration Edition carries forward all the luxury and tech features of the standard EQS 580. It includes a triple-screen dashboard layout consisting of a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 17.7-inch OLED central infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. Rear seat passengers get dual 11.6-inch entertainment screens and a 7-inch tablet to control various functions.
Other highlights include a colored augmented reality heads-up display, four-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone chargers, heated and ventilated seats in both rows, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
In terms of safety, the EQS Celebration Edition is equipped with multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, park assist, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also comes with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, including adaptive cruise control, steering assist, and driver attention monitoring.
Powertrain and Performance
The EQS 580 Celebration Edition continues to be powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering 543 PS and 858 Nm of torque. It draws power from a 108 kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-certified range of 813 km on a single charge. The electric sedan can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed limited to 210 kmph.
Rivals
The Celebration Edition of the EQS 580 competes with the BMW i7 which recently got its registration fees waivered off. While it shares its price with the standard EQS 580, the Celebration Edition adds a more comfortable rear-seat experience, making it a tempting choice for chauffeur-driven customers.
