Kia's heavily camouflaged Sonet facelift was recently spotted testing in Haryana. The spy shot show what is believed to be the second-generation of the model, which will move from the K2 platform to the newer K1, that underpins the the current Syros.

While we have previously covered the expected features, here is what the first spy shot of the new Sonet reveals:

At the front, it shows a revised wide black grille, while the lower grille as seen on the current model appears to be covered by the heavy camouflage. This also hides the headlights, LEDs and other details, making the exact design difficult to conclude.

On the sides, the alloy wheel shows a crystal cut design, similar to one of the designs offered on the larger Seltos, although the final design may differ.

The only other notable detail visible is a sunroof, though whether it is single-pane, like on the current model, or panoramic is unclear.

The newer K1 platform should improve safety, with a higher strength steel build and a shift to Level 2 ADAS suite.

However under the bonnet, the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo, and 1.5-litre diesel engines are expected to carry over. Also, a strong hybrid variant is believed to be under development, though it is not expected to launch until 2028 or 2029.

Availability & Rivals

Kia's second-generation Sonet facelift is expected to launch sometime in 2027, and the brand is reportedly targeting a production plan of around 85,000 units annually.

Once it hits the roads, it will rival popular models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Skoda Kylaq.
