Quick Read - Kia adds three automatic variants to the Carens Clavis, bringing turbo-petrol DCTs to HTE (O) and HTE (EX), plus a diesel AT on HTE (O), from Rs 14.67 lakh.
Kia India has added three new automatic variants to the Carens Clavis, pushing the entry point for an automatic gearbox two trims lower than before. Previously, the turbo-petrol DCT and diesel AT were only available from the mid-spec HTK Plus upwards. That changes today.
The New Variants and Their Prices

The cheapest new addition is the HTE (O) with the 160hp, 253Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, priced at Rs 14.67 lakh. The same trim also picks up a diesel automatic option, putting the 116hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre engine with a 6-speed torque converter at Rs 15.82 lakh.
One trim above, the HTE (EX) now comes with the turbo-petrol DCT as well, at Rs 15.22 lakh.

What These Variants Get Over the Manual
Along with the automatic gearbox, these variants come with what Kia calls an Automatic Pack. It adds a smart key with motion sensor, push-button start, drive modes in Eco, Normal and Sport, an electronic parking brake, and remote engine start.
None of these are on the corresponding manual trims, so the automatic buyer gets a small but useful feature step-up at the same time.
Why Kia Has Done This
The Carens Clavis makes a strong case for family and city use, but buyers who wanted an automatic without moving into the feature-heavy higher trims had nowhere to go until now. This update fills that gap directly.
With a CNG variant also upcoming, Kia seems to be actively widening the Carens Clavis's reach across different buyer types.
