Hyundai Motor India has given its popular micro-SUV, the Exter, a fresh update with the launch of the Pro Pack. Priced from ₹7.98 lakh (ex-showroom), this new package adds a sportier edge to the Exter’s design and makes select features available on more trims. The Pro Pack itself costs just ₹5,000 extra, making it an affordable upgrade for customers who want their Exter to stand out.

What’s New?

The Pro Pack brings in subtle yet noticeable changes on the outside. Buyers get a side sill garnish and more pronounced wheel arch cladding, which add to the SUV-inspired look of the car. Hyundai has also introduced a Titan Grey Matte paint option exclusively with this pack, giving the Exter a premium visual appeal.

Inside, the changes are minimal but useful. The dashcam, which was earlier reserved for higher-end variants like the SX Tech and SX Connect, is now available on the SX (O) AMT trim as well. Apart from these tweaks, the Exter continues to offer the same feature-rich cabin with an electric sunroof, wireless charging, climate control, rear AC vents, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Engine and Performance

Mechanically, nothing changes under the hood. The Exter continues to use the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 83hp and 114Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. For those who prefer lower running costs, Hyundai also offers a CNG version paired with a manual gearbox. In CNG mode, the power output drops slightly to 69hp and 95.2Nm.

Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 19.4 kmpl for the petrol manual and 19.2 kmpl for the petrol AMT. The CNG variant offers a frugal 27.1 km per kg, making it an attractive choice for daily commuters.

How Does It Compare with Rivals?

The Hyundai Exter competes with the Tata Punch, Citroën C3, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx (lower trims) in the compact SUV space. With the Pro Pack, Hyundai aims to give the Exter a fresher and slightly more rugged look, which should help it stand out against the Tata Punch that already emphasizes its SUV-like design.

While the Punch offers a similar petrol engine option, it does not have a factory-fitted CNG version like the Exter, giving Hyundai an edge in the fuel efficiency game. The Citroën C3, on the other hand, is bigger in size but lacks some premium features like a sunroof or wireless charging. Maruti’s Fronx feels more upmarket but comes at a higher price point.

This makes the Exter Pro Pack a value-focused choice for buyers who want a compact, efficient, and stylish city SUV.
