Hyundai Confirms Next-Gen Creta, New i10, and a Sub-4m Electric SUV for India, More Models Planned

At its 2026 CEO Investor Day in Seoul, Hyundai confirmed three new models for India. These include the next-generation Creta, a new-generation i10 and an all-new sub-4m electric SUV.

They are part of Hyundai's plan to launch 26 new models in India by 2030. The electric SUV will arrive first, with its launch expected in Q4 2026 or early 2027.

New Sub-4m Electric SUV Arriving This Year

Hyundai has described the new model as an A-segment electric SUV developed for India. It will get the next-generation infotainment system and Level 2 ADAS as standard.

Spy shots show a boxy design with a closed-off front end and flush door handles, with the SUV positioned below the Creta Electric.

42 kWh and 51 kWh battery options are expected, up to 168 bhp and a claimed range of 526 km. Prices are expected to range from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 17.5 lakh, putting it against the Tata Punch EV and Nexon EV.

Hyundai is also developing in-house mid-nickel NCM battery cells, which it says can reduce battery costs by around 30 percent.

Next-Gen Creta on the Way, Likely in 2027

The next-gen Creta is expected in 2027 and is likely to move to the K3 platform used by the Kia Seltos. Spy shots of it show a redesigned interior with a curved screen setup, new dashboard and Hyundai's Pleos infotainment system.

The existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected to continue, while a hybrid is also likely. SUVs already account for around 70 percent of Hyundai's sales in India, making the Creta one of the key models in its upcoming line-up.

New-Gen i10 Also Confirmed

The next-generation i10 is expected to replace the Grand i10 Nios with a complete redesign inside and out. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is likely to continue, with CNG also likely.

A larger touchscreen, 360-degree camera and sunroof on higher variants are among the expected additions.

The Bigger Picture

Hyundai has also confirmed another new mid-size SUV with an internal-combustion engine for India, although details are yet to be revealed.

Additionally, the company will add 3.2 lakh units of annual production capacity in India as part of its global expansion, while targeting 90 percent local parts sourcing and exports of around 30 percent of India's production.

Hyundai has also confirmed that its luxury brand Genesis will enter India in the near future.
