TVS Gives the iQube S a Bigger Battery and a Longer Leash

TVS has replaced the iQube S 3.5 kWh with a new 4.7 kWh variant, priced at Rs 1.37 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The claimed IDC range is 175 km, up from 145 km on the outgoing model. 

Here is everything the new variant brings.

1. A Battery That Finally Justifies the Mid-Tier Price

The 4.7 kWh pack is the entire reason this variant exists. The outgoing iQube S 3.5 kWh was starting to look modest against rivals pushing range claims higher, and TVS has addressed that directly. The 175 km IDC claim is 30 km more than the 3.5 kWh unit it replaces. 

Real-world figures will be lower, as they always are, but the additional range means an unplanned detour or a longer commute day does not immediately become a range anxiety event. 

The pack is also heavier, bringing kerb weight to 128.8 kg versus 119.1 kg on the base iQube 3.5 kWh, but it remains lighter than the range-topping iQube ST at 132 kg.

2. Faster Charging Than the Smaller Variants

Despite carrying a larger battery, the iQube S 4.7 kWh takes 4 hours for a 0-80% charge, which is actually quicker than the base iQube 3.1 kWh and 3.5 kWh variants. TVS attributes this to an improved Battery Management System rather than a higher-output charger. 

The charger itself is the same standard 950W portable unit that plugs into any household socket. 

For a buyer who charges overnight, this gap may not feel dramatic, but for someone topping up during the day between trips, the faster replenishment rate is a practical daily advantage.

3. Full Connected Tech Suite with Navigation and OTA

The 7-inch TFT display carries the full TVS connectivity package, including turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call and SMS alerts, remote charge status monitoring, voice assist with Alexa integration, and over-the-air software updates. The reverse mode, referred to by TVS as Q-Park Assist, is also included. 

These features were present on earlier iQube S variants and carry over unchanged, but they remain among the more complete connected packages available at this price point in the electric scooter segment. 

The display is not touchscreen-enabled at this tier, that distinction belongs to the iQube ST, but the joystick-enabled navigation is functional for daily use.

4. AIS 156-Certified Safety Alerts

The iQube S 4.7 kWh carries AIS 156 certification for its crash alert, fall alert, and anti-theft alert systems. 

AIS 156 is the Bureau of Indian Standards framework for electric vehicle safety, and certification under it means the safety systems have been validated against a defined Indian regulatory standard rather than just claimed by the manufacturer. 

The electrical components also carry an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, which matters in India where monsoon riding and waterlogged roads are a seasonal reality rather than an edge case.

5. Practical Storage and Utility Features

Under the seat, the iQube S 4.7 kWh offers 32 litres of storage, enough for two helmets according to TVS. A USB charging port is included as well. The side-stand sensor and fully LED lighting round out a package that is clearly aimed at the daily family commuter rather than the enthusiast. 

None of these are new additions specific to the 4.7 kWh variant, but they form the practical foundation that makes the scooter usable as a primary vehicle rather than an occasional-use purchase, which is the use case the iQube S has always targeted.

Why This Launch Matters

TVS currently holds 24.36 percent of India's electric two-wheeler market, with the iQube family as its primary contributor. The iQube S sat in the middle of that lineup and the 3.5 kWh variant was beginning to look underwhelming as rivals pushed range figures upward. 

Replacing it with a 4.7 kWh unit at Rs 1.37 lakh, without a significant price increase over the outgoing model, keeps TVS competitive in the mid-tier electric scooter bracket without disrupting the pricing ladder between the base iQube and the top-spec ST.

What We Think

We believe this is a sensible upgrade rather than a reinvention, as the iQube S 4.7 kWh does exactly what it needs to. It addresses the range concern that was the most common reason a buyer would have looked at a rival instead. A 175 km IDC figure with realistic city figures likely landing around 120 to 130 km is enough for most urban commuters to manage a full week without daily charging.
