India’s electric two-wheeler market continued its steady climb in 2025, crossing 12.8 lakh units, an 11 percent year-on-year growth. Electric scooters and motorcycles made up 56 percent of India’s total EV sales across all segments, underlining how crucial two-wheelers remain to the country’s electric mobility story. Out of the 20.29 million two-wheelers sold in 2025, EVs accounted for 6.30 percent, a modest but meaningful rise over 2024.
The biggest story of the year was TVS Motor Company overtaking Ola Electric to become the new market leader. TVS sold 2,98,867 electric two-wheelers, missing the three-lakh milestone by just over a thousand units. With leadership in monthly sales for eight months and a 23 percent market share, TVS ended Ola’s three-year reign at the top.
Bajaj Auto followed closely in second place, selling 2,69,836 units, a strong 39 percent growth despite temporary production disruptions due to supply chain constraints. Ather Energy delivered its best-ever year, crossing 2,00,000 units for the first time, driven largely by the Rizta family scooter. In contrast, Ola Electric suffered a sharp collapse, with sales plunging 51 percent, pushing the brand down to fourth position. Hero MotoCorp also stood out, clocking triple-digit growth on the back of the Vida VX2.
