Quick Read - Kawasaki has launched the 2027 Z650 S at Rs 7.59 lakh, bringing sharper Sugomi styling, revised riding ergonomics and updated instrumentation to its middleweight naked motorcycle.
Kawasaki has expanded its Z650 lineup in India with the launch of the new Z650 S. Priced at Rs 7.59 lakh ex-showroom, the updated motorcycle carries a premium of Rs 33,000 over the outgoing Z650, which was priced at Rs 7.26 lakh.
The new S variant primarily focuses on styling and equipment upgrades, with the familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine retained. Deliveries have also commenced across the country.

Sharper Sugomi Styling With Revised Ergonomics

The most noticeable changes are concentrated around the motorcycle's exterior design. The Z650 S adopts Kawasaki's Sugomi styling language, featuring a redesigned LED headlamp and tail-light inspired by the larger Z900.
It also gets more prominent fuel tank extensions, sharper body panels, aluminium radiator covers and a raised rear section. These changes give the motorcycle a wider and more muscular appearance compared to the outgoing Z650.

The riding position has also been revised, with a wider handlebar positioned further forward for a more committed posture. The seat height has increased from 790mm to 805mm, which is worth considering for shorter riders.
For India, the motorcycle is available in a single Pearl Blizzard White/Candy Lime Green colour combination.
4.3-inch TFT Display and Updated Technology

The Z650 S gets a 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument cluster with a revised display layout. It supports smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki's RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE, allowing riders to access vehicle information and riding logs.
The connected system also supports call and mail notifications, while turn-by-turn navigation is another addition highlighted in the launch coverage.
Other equipment includes Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) and full-LED lighting. The Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) is also available, although it is offered as an optional genuine accessory rather than standard equipment.

Existing 649cc Engine Retained

Powering the Z650 S is the familiar 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which produces 68 PS at 8,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm. It continues to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch.
The suspension setup also carries over, comprising telescopic front forks and a Horizontal Back-link rear suspension.

However, the braking hardware has been revised. The front now gets twin 272mm discs, down from the previous 300mm units, while the rear disc has been reduced from 220mm to 186mm.
The motorcycle also weighs 193kg (kerb), which is 5kg more than the outgoing Z650. Its fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 15 litres, while ground clearance stands at 130mm.
