The Swift is the right car if your honest use is short city trips with one or two people aboard. It is cheaper to buy, lighter by a useful margin, returns around 16kmpl in real driving, and its shorter length and tighter turning circle make it the easier car to live with in crowded lanes. Six airbags on every version including the base car is a real advantage.
What it cannot offer is any step up. There is no turbo, no head-up display, no 360-degree camera and no driver assistance anywhere in the range, and the 265-litre boot will not stretch. Anyone who wants more power or more equipment has to move to the Fronx and pay for it.
Fronx
The Fronx justifies its premium on one combination the Swift cannot match: a turbo engine with a torque converter automatic. Peak torque from 2,000rpm means it pulls cleanly from low revs, and a torque converter has none of the shift pauses that define the Swift's AMT, so it is both quicker and smoother in traffic. The higher ground clearance, larger boot, full-size spare and head-up display fill out the case.
What you pay for is a heavier car, which is why the entry Fronx with the shared 1.2-litre engine is slower than the Swift with the same unit. Buyers who will stay on the naturally aspirated engine should ask whether the extra money is buying much.

Maruti Suzuki Brings CNG-AMT Options To The Swift, Baleno and Dzire
Maruti has finally paired CNG with an automatic gearbox on the Swift, Dzire and Baleno, priced from Rs 7.92 lakh. The AMT trims share a 1.2 litre engine, a 55 litre boot-mounted tank and cost around Rs 35,000 more than the manual versions.

Suzuki Developing New 125 bhp DITC Turbo Engine for India
Suzuki has confirmed development of a new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine for India and other growth markets. The engine targets over 125 bhp, 230 Nm and thermal efficiency of over 40 per cent, and will support petrol, CNG, CBG and E100 fuel.
