The Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged (TSI) petrol engine, delivering a power output of 201 hp between 4,500 and 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 320 Nm from 1,500 to 4,400 rpm.

This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission with 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel-drive (4WD) system.

The Tiguan R-Line has a petrol fuel tank capacity of 60 litres, delivering an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 12.58 km/L.

The Tiguan R-Line’s cockpit is centered around a 10.25-inch digital display and a head-up display, complemented by a heated sports steering wheel with paddle shifters. The styling is highlighted by signature "R-Line" styling elements and 30-colour ambient lighting.

Digital integration includes a 15-inch touchscreen featuring IDA voice control and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, device management is handled with dual wireless charging pads and fast-charging USB-C ports for both front and rear passengers.

Comfort wise, passengers get a three-zone climate control system and a panoramic sunroof, while the front sports seats are heated and are upholstered in premium ArtVelours, with built-in massage functions and pneumatic lumbar support.

Lastly, the rear includes a sliding split-folding bench to balance legroom and luggage space. Meanwhile, boot capacity begins at a highly practical 652 litres, expanding to 1,650 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The Tiguan R-Line's front gets R-Line sports-style bumpers with black glossy honeycomb inserts, a signature "R" badge on the grille, and an illuminated moulding that connects the headlamps.

This aesthetic continues along the side with body-coloured mirror housings, silver-anodised roof rails, and black glossy wheel-arch extensions. The vehicle sits on 19-inch "Coventry" diamond-turned alloy wheels fitted with 255/45 R19 tyres.

At the rear, it gets 3D LED combination lamps that feature unique signal animations and a black glossy spoiler. A chrome design strip on the bumper and a trunk-mounted "R" badge complete the R-Line branding.

Dimensions wise, it measures 4,539 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, built upon a 2,680 mm wheelbase with 176 mm of ground clearance.

The Tiguan R-Line gets the Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes highly sought-after tech like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

Additionally, everyday driving and maneuvering are further supported by rear cross-traffic alerts, a rear-view camera system, and hill start/descent controls.

As for crash testing, the Tiguan R-Line carries 5-star Euro NCAP rating, scoring 83% in adult protection and 88% in child protection.

Note that there is no official Bharat NCAP (or updated Global NCAP) crash test result available yet for the India-spec yet.

The Tiguan R-Line’s closest rivals in its segment are the Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tucson and Citroën C5 Aircross.

The Kodiaq shares the same 2.0-litre TSI engine and DSG gearbox, but has an advantage in seating (7 seats versus 5) and slightly higher ARAI efficiency of 14.86 km/L. The Tiguan R-Line counters with its more comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, larger 15-inch touchscreen and adaptive chassis control DCC Pro.

The Tucson offers a diesel powertrain option that delivers higher low-end torque (416 Nm). The Tiguan R-Line leads here with its 4MOTION all-wheel drive and advanced driver aids such as oncoming vehicle braking and swerve support.

The C5 Aircross provides distinctive progressive hydraulic suspension for a plush ride over bad roads. The Tiguan counters with stronger power output (201 hp versus the C5’s 177.5 hp petrol), 4MOTION capability and Level 2 ADAS features not available on the Citroën.
