Hyundai is working on the next-generation i20, and a heavily camouflaged test mule has been spotted testing on European roads.
The car was covered with multiple fake body panels, making it difficult to see the design details clearly.
From what is visible, the headlamps show slim LED DRL strips running across the top. The front grille is expected to feature clean horizontal slats instead of the current honeycomb pattern.
Side changes appear quite significant.
The overall silhouette looks noticeably sharper, with more defined window lines compared to the smoother flowing design of the present model. The alloy wheels seen on the mule are likely temporary units used only for testing.

Not much is clear about the rear due to heavy camouflage, but connected taillamps are expected.
Inside, the cabin is likely to get a complete overhaul with a fresh dashboard layout and improved materials.
We expect Hyundai to introduce its new Pleos infotainment system in the i20, which should bring a larger touchscreen, better connectivity, and a lot more features.

Powertrain choices are expected to remain largely unchanged. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual, iMT, and CVT could be standard, with the 1.0-litre turbo manual and DCT exclusive to the N Line variants.
The next-gen i20 is expected to launch in India around 2027. A global reveal could happen by the end of this year.
