Exterior Design

The new Tata Punch embraces its adventure focused identity more confidently than ever. The refreshed design brings slimmer LED daytime running lights, redesigned LED headlamps and a more aggressive bumper that gives the compact SUV a wider and tougher stance.

The addition of a bull guard-style front bumper to selected trims strengthens its rugged appeal, while new R16 trellis alloy wheels add a sportier and more premium touch. The overall silhouette remains upright and muscular, helping the Punch retain its true SUV character rather than looking like a raised hatchback. New exterior colours including Cyantific, Caramel, Bengal Rouge and Coorg Clouds enhance the Punch’s youthful and outdoors inspired personality and make it stand out on the road.

Interior Design

Inside, the new Punch feels more modern, more spacious and more thoughtfully designed for everyday life. The cabin now features dual tone interiors with a slimmer LED treatment that adds visual depth and a premium feel. The redesigned centre cabin console improves usability and storage, while the flat rear floor ensures better comfort for rear passengers.

Extended thigh support for the front seats makes long journeys less tiring, and adjustable front headrests add to overall comfort. The 90 degree door opening makes entry and exit easy for all age groups. Ambient lighting subtly enhances the cabin atmosphere during night drives, making the Punch feel warm and inviting rather than basic.

The Punch balances performance with practicality. The petrol version offers a generous 336 litre boot, suitable for weekend trips and daily errands. The CNG variant provides around 210 litres of usable boot space despite the cylinder setup, making it one of the more practical factory fitted CNG SUVs in its segment. Idle start stop technology improves fuel efficiency in city traffic, while multiple drive modes allow the driver to adapt the car’s behaviour to different conditions

Technology is one of the biggest upgrades in the new Punch. It now comes with a large 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system that feels responsive and easy to use. The 17.8 cm digital instrument cluster provides clear driving information and adds a modern touch to the cockpit.

A voice-assisted electric sunroof brings in light and air while keeping things convenient. Wireless charging is available along with a powerful 65-watt fast charger for compatible devices. Tata’s iRA connected car technology enables remote features, vehicle tracking and safety alerts. Automatic climate control with Xpress Cool AC ensures quick cabin cooling even in extreme heat, while a four-speaker audio system delivers decent sound quality for daily drives. An auto-dimming IRVM reduces glare at night and improves driving comfort.

Engine Options and Performance

The headline update is the new 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120 PS at 5500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque between 1750 and 4000 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this engine gives the Punch strong acceleration and confident highway performance, with a claimed 0 to 100 kmph time of around 11 seconds.

The turbo motor uses an all-aluminium cylinder block, a water-cooled turbocharger, an integrated exhaust manifold and hydraulic lash adjusters, making it both efficient and durable.

Alongside the turbo engine, Tata continues to offer the familiar 1.2 litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 87.8 PS at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm at 3250 rpm, available with both manual and AMT transmissions. The 1.2 litre Revotron CNG version produces 73.4 PS at 6000 rpm and 103 Nm at 3500 rpm and is aimed at buyers focused on lower running costs.

The Punch also becomes one of the first SUVs to offer an AMT option with CNG, a significant step for convenience focused buyers.

Despite its compact footprint, the Punch remains surprisingly capable when the road disappears.

A ground clearance of 193 mm allows it to tackle broken roads, speed breakers and rough terrain without scraping. The Punch boasts a water wading depth of up to 400 mm, making it suitable for heavy monsoon conditions. Approach, ramp over and departure angles of 21.4 degrees, 21.6 degrees and 39.4 degrees respectively give it genuine rough road confidence. These figures ensure the Punch can handle steep ramps, uneven surfaces and sharp inclines with ease, reinforcing its adventure friendly character.

Safety, Protection and Emergency Support

Safety remains a core strength of the Punch. It offers six airbags along with ESP and ABS, ensuring strong protection for both driver and passengers. The Punch carries a 5 star safety rating for both adult and child protection, reinforcing Tata’s reputation for building safe cars. A 360 degree surround view camera improves visibility and confidence in tight spaces.

Post crash emergency support features like iCall and bCall ensure immediate assistance in case of an accident, adding an extra layer of reassurance for families and long-distance travellers.

Variants And Pricing

The new Tata Punch is offered in a wide range of variants to suit different needs and budgets. The lineup includes Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished Plus trims. From value-focused buyers to tech lovers and adventure seekers, the Punch range covers a broad audience.

The new Tata Punch range starts at ₹5.59 lakh for the Smart petrol manual, while the Smart CNG manual is priced at ₹6.69 lakh. The Pure variant comes in at ₹6.49 lakh for petrol MT and ₹7.49 lakh for CNG MT, followed by the Pure+ at ₹6.99 lakh for petrol MT and ₹7.99 lakh for CNG MT, with AMT options costing about ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 extra.

The Adventure variant begins at ₹7.59 lakh for petrol MT and ₹8.59 lakh for CNG MT, moving up to the Accomplished at ₹8.29 lakh for petrol MT and ₹9.29 lakh for CNG MT. Sitting at the top of the lineup, the fully loaded Accomplished+ S is priced at around ₹8.99 lakh for petrol, with AMT versions going higher, making the Punch one of the most competitively priced offerings in its segment despite the wide engine and feature spread.

The Adventure variant stands out for buyers who want a rugged look and capability, while the Accomplished Plus caters to those who want maximum features and comfort.

The new Punch will continue to compete against the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Ignis, but with its new turbo petrol engine, it will also rival turbo petrol compact SUVs like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite
