Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Teased Ahead of Possible 22 September Launch

Quick Read - Mahindra’s 3-door Thar could get its second facelift on September 22, bringing Thar Roxx-inspired styling, new features and alloy wheels, while retaining the existing engines and likely getting a price hike.

Mahindra has put out the first teaser for yet another update to the 3-door Thar, which could launch on 22 September according to wide reports. This would make it the second facelift for the second-generation Thar, which launched in October 2020 and received its first update only last year in October 2025.

What the Teaser Shows and What Spy Shots Have Confirmed

The teaser does not show much and is mostly a cinematic mud-splashing shot, with a glimpse of a new alloy wheel design that appears dual-tone. Spy shots, however, have already revealed quite a bit more, as covered earlier.

The front end borrows heavily from the bigger Thar Roxx, with a revised five-slat grille, projector LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and a reprofiled bumper. The rear is expected to follow suit with redesigned LED tail-lights and a reworked bumper. There is also a possibility of the soft-top option returning.

Feature Additions and What Is Still Missing

On the inside, Mahindra may add a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera. The existing 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and power-adjustable ORVMs are expected to carry over.

Worth noting is that at its price, the Thar still does not offer a sunroof or ventilated seats, features now common in competitors at similar money. Whether this update addresses that remains to be seen.

Engines Stay the Same

No mechanical changes are expected. The 3-door Thar continues with its three engine options: a 152hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 119hp 1.5-litre diesel, and a 132hp 2.2-litre diesel, paired with six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes in various RWD and 4WD configurations.

Current prices range from Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, and a revision upwards is likely with the facelift.
