The Range Rover is the flagship and carries the weight of being Land Rover’s most iconic model. It is designed for people who want limousine-like comfort in an SUV body. Compared to the Range Rover Sport, it is less about agility and more about refinement.

 The SV trims come with a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine that produces over 500 hp, making highway overtakes almost effortless. The diesel variants, especially the 3-litre, are favoured by buyers who need torque-rich cruising with better efficiency for long-distance travel. Inside, it feels more like a luxury hotel suite than a car, with executive rear seats, active noise cancellation, and a suspension tuned for comfort above all else.

Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport appeals to a younger buyer base who want a luxury SUV with sharper handling. Where the full-size Range Rover focuses on calm and plushness, the Sport dials up the driver involvement. The Edition Two and Autobiography trims with the 4.4-litre V8 petrol deliver strong performance and a more athletic character, with quicker steering and firmer suspension tuning. 

The Dynamic HSE trim is the entry into the Sport range and offers both petrol and diesel engines, combining practicality with premium features. The Sport sacrifices some of the rear-seat space and outright comfort of the flagship Range Rover, but it makes up for it with agility and style that feels less formal and more energetic.

Range Rover Velar

The Velar is positioned between the Evoque and the Sport, and its role in the lineup is clear: design-first luxury. It is the most avant-garde Range Rover, with sleek surfaces, flush door handles, and a clean cabin dominated by dual digital displays. Buyers often choose the Velar for its styling and modern feel, rather than outright performance or size. 

Compared to the Sport, it is less athletic, and compared to the Evoque, it feels far more premium and spacious. The Velar Autobiography trim is available with both petrol and diesel engines, offering a balance of performance and everyday usability.
 

Range Rover Evoque

The Evoque is the most compact member of the Range Rover family, aimed at urban buyers. Its bold coupe-like profile and youthful cabin design make it a popular choice among younger professionals who want the Range Rover badge but don’t need the size of a Velar or Sport. Despite being the smallest, it still carries the brand’s signature features like Terrain Response, a premium cabin, and advanced driver aids.

 In everyday use, the Evoque feels more agile in city traffic and easier to park than its bigger siblings. It shares engines with the Velar, but its lighter body makes it feel more responsive in urban driving.

Defender

The Defender is Land Rover’s rugged legend reborn. Unlike the Range Rover family, which focuses on luxury, the Defender is designed with off-road ability at its core. Yet the modern Defender is not a bare-bones machine, as it mixes durability with comfort and technology. 

The Octa Edition One sits at the top, offering exclusive styling and a powerful petrol engine, while the standard Octa gives nearly the same performance without the limited-edition premium. The 110 X-Dynamic HSE trims (5-litre, 3-litre, and 2-litre petrols) offer buyers a choice depending on how much performance and budget they want. Compared to the Range Rover, the Defender feels tougher and more versatile but less plush. It’s a car that buyers pick because they want capability first and luxury second.

Discovery

The Discovery family focuses on practicality and versatility. Larger than the Evoque or Velar but less luxury-oriented than the Range Rover, it’s aimed at families who need space, comfort, and flexibility. The full-size Discovery offers powerful diesel engines with strong towing ability and seven-seat practicality, making it popular among owners who use their SUV for both city and long-distance trips. 

The Discovery Sport, the entry-level variant, is smaller but still carries the same family-friendly approach. Compared to the Defender, the Discovery is more about passenger comfort and technology, while still being capable enough off-road for occasional adventure.
