Exterior Design

The Bayon takes a different approach to SUV styling, with slim H-edge LED daytime running lights, main LED headlamps positioned lower in the bumper and a silver-finished lower insert. Thick wheel-arch cladding, roof rails and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels give it a more rugged look from the side.

At the rear, the tail lamps follow a similar inverted-L design, with a black panel between them, a roof spoiler and a silver-finished bumper insert. The overall design is more crossover-like than the Creta's, while retaining the upright stance expected of an SUV.

Interior and Features

The cabin is dominated by two 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for infotainment. The dashboard gets a vertical centre console, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. Cabin finishes vary by version, with lighter dual-tone options and a sportier all-black theme with contrasting red stitching available on selected variants.

Comfort equipment includes ventilated front seats, an eight-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror and a Bose sound system. Rear passengers get AC vents, USB Type-C charging ports, a centre armrest with cupholders and a two-step reclining function.

The rear bench can be split and folded in a 60:40 ratio, while the 505-litre boot offers room for luggage with the seats in place.

The Bayon's infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, onboard navigation and JioSaavn music streaming. It also gets Hyundai Bluelink with more than 70 connected features and over-the-air updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers.

Another highlight is Hyundai's generative AI voice assistant, which uses technology from Perplexity and SoundHound AI.

Engine and Performance

The Bayon uses a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT).

The iVT version gets Dash Boost Mode for quicker responses during overtaking, along with Sporty Drive Tech and steering-mounted paddle shifters. The latter adds a sportier sound and shift feel during acceleration. Eco, Normal and Sport modes allow drivers to adjust the driving response.

As for mileage, the automatic version stands at 18.6 kmpl. Also, a factory-fitted CNG version has been confirmed to follow in January 2027.
