Quick Read - BYD, Denza and Jetour are expected to expand their Indian line-ups with electric cars, a plug-in hybrid SUV and a luxury MPV. Expected launches include the Jetour T2, Denza D9, Denza Z9 GT, BYD Atto 2 and Sealion 6.
Chinese automakers are developing vehicles that could bring new competition to India’s SUV, luxury MPV, plug-in hybrid and electric car segments. Models from BYD, Denza and Jetour offer a mix of long driving ranges, advanced technology, premium interiors and distinctive designs.
Their arrival in India is not confirmed for every model, but if introduced, they could challenge established brands and give buyers more choices.
Jetour T2: A Rugged SUV With a Different Approach

The Jetour T2 stands out with its boxy body, upright front end and rugged styling. Unlike many SUVs that focus mainly on urban use, its design gives it a more adventurous character. The cabin is expected to feature a large infotainment screen, digital displays and modern convenience features. If it offers a competitive combination of equipment, performance and practicality, it could attract buyers considering SUVs from Mahindra, Tata and other established manufacturers.
The T2 is expected to enter India through JSW Motors as the JSW Combat with unveil on December 4 2026. It was earlier targeted for the festive season (around October 2026) but has been delayed. The estimated price is in the ₹30-50 lakh range.

Denza D9: A Luxury MPV That Could Challenge the Vellfire

The Denza D9 is designed for buyers who want a spacious, comfortable vehicle with a premium passenger experience. Its large body, three-row seating and expected second-row luxury features could make it attractive to business owners, families and people who prefer to travel with a chauffeur. Its potential arrival would give buyers another option in a segment currently served by expensive luxury MPVs, including the Toyota Vellfire and MG M9.
Denza is BYD’s premium automotive brand, and the D9 is expected to lead its entry into India. A launch around late 2026 or early 2027 has been reported, but the company has yet to confirm final pricing and specifications for the Indian market. At an estimated ₹80 lakh to ₹1 crore, it would compete in the premium end of the MPV market.
Denza Z9 GT: A High-Performance Electric Grand Tourer

The Denza Z9 GT combines the shape of a sleek grand tourer with the performance of a high-powered electric car. Its three-motor setup and all-wheel drive give it supercar-level power, while the long body provides space for luggage and everyday use. Advanced driver assistance, rear-wheel steering and a technology-focused cabin further distinguish it from conventional luxury sedans. If launched in India, it could offer an unusual alternative to premium electric cars from European manufacturers.
The Z9 GT is expected to arrive in India towards the end of 2026, with an estimated ex-showroom price of ₹1.25 crore to ₹1.35 crore. These figures are provisional. Its appeal will depend not only on performance, but also on charging support, after-sales service and the ownership experience offered by Denza.

BYD Atto 2: A Smaller Electric SUV for Everyday Driving

The BYD Atto 2 is a smaller electric SUV aimed at buyers who want the benefits of an EV without moving into a large or expensive vehicle. Its compact dimensions should make it easier to drive and park in crowded cities, while its raised seating position and practical cabin suit everyday family use. BYD’s battery technology could help it compete with other electric SUVs by offering a balance of usable range, equipment and running costs.
The Atto 2 is under consideration for the Indian market and has been spotted testing, with an estimated price of ₹18-25 lakh. However, its launch timing is less firm than the other models, as it could slip into 2027. Official confirmation is still pending.
BYD Sealion 6 / Seal U DM-i: A Plug-in Hybrid SUV

The BYD Seal U DM-i, known in some markets as the Sealion 6, combines a petrol engine with electric motors and a rechargeable battery. This setup allows drivers to use electric power for many daily journeys while retaining a petrol engine for longer trips. It could appeal to buyers who want to reduce fuel use but are not ready to depend entirely on public charging infrastructure. Its arrival would also introduce BYD’s plug-in hybrid technology to Indian buyers.
The Seal U DM-i is expected to launch in India by the end of 2026, with an estimated price of ₹45 lakh to ₹50 lakh. The company has not yet confirmed the final Indian price or specifications. Its success would depend on the electric range offered in the Indian version, the price difference compared with fully electric SUVs and the availability of convenient home charging.
