Ferrari has taken a major step into the electric era with its first fully electric vehicle, the Luce, which was recently spied undergoing cold-weather testing in northern Sweden. Although heavily camouflaged with body panels, the prototype still gave away several key design clues.
The Luce seems to share certain design elements with the Purosangue, specifically the distinctive rear-hinged doors, with handles placed near the B-pillar. The test mule also featured separated headlights, including a lower cluster in the front fascia, and it appears to sit on a shorter wheelbase compared to the Purosangue.

Ferrari has developed four in-house permanent magnet synchronous motors with Halbach-array rotors.

The front pair delivers a combined 282 hp, while the rear pair produces 831 hp, for a total output of over 1,000 hp. Peak torque is massive, and the front axle can be disconnected on demand to allow dramatic burnouts.
Ferrari claims a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 310 km/h, and a range of over 530 kilometres from its 122 kWh battery pack.
The battery uses an 880-volt architecture for ultra-fast 350 kW charging and boasts an impressive energy density of 195 Wh/kg, the highest in any production electric vehicle so far. Remarkably, the pack is designed to be removable and repairable, with cells placed partly under the rear seats.u
Ferrari has been developing the Luce for five years, filing more than 60 patents covering electric motors, battery systems, inverters, and software. It rides on a 48-volt active suspension system that gives each wheel independent control.

Ferrari recently revealed the interior of the Luce, featuring retro, old-school design elements, but with modern tech, thanks to the collaboration with the design firm LoveFrom, founded by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. The cabin uses 100 percent recycled aluminium for key parts.
Likely to be priced around ₹4 crore to ₹5 crore when it reaches India, the Luce is expected to be unveiled in May 2026 as part of Ferrari’s busy year that will see five new models.
