F1 has arrived at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the 2026 Canadian GP, and Montreal is hosting a Sprint weekend for the first time ever.

Teams get only one 60-minute practice session before Sprint Qualifying begins, putting massive pressure on any team bringing major new parts, as they’ll have almost no time to test and tune them.

Here’s a breakdown of the latest upgrades each team has brought.

The Top 4 Teams

Mercedes intentionally saved their largest upgrade of the season for Canada. This is a substantial aerodynamic package expected to deliver 0.2 to 0.3 seconds per lap. Key changes target the front wing, suspension airflow, bargeboards, floor, and overall car weight. There is also work on the electronics and clutch system for better race starts, plus efforts to reduce turbo lag to close the gap to Ferrari’s strong launch performance.

McLaren is rolling out the second phase of their major development plan that began in Miami. This includes further refinements to the floor, bodywork, wings, and overall aerodynamic efficiency. If both phases integrate smoothly, McLaren could emerge from this weekend as a true all-round championship threat heading into Barcelona.

Ferrari is not introducing any major new components this weekend. Instead, they are concentrating on software improvements, better setup work, and getting the most out of the big package they brought to Miami. The layout in Canada, with its heavy braking, traction zones, and medium-speed corners, should suit the SF-26’s strengths.

Red Bull is only bringing small, incremental updates. The main focus will be checking whether the improved cornering balance seen in Miami carries over to Montreal’s unique characteristics. The gap between Verstappen and Hadjar will continue to be an area of attention.

Midfield and Backmarker Teams

Williams is bringing one of the more significant midfield upgrades this weekend. After a solid points haul in Miami, the Grove based team aims to take another step forward.

Racing Bulls (VCARB) is expected to arrive with a large update package, possibly even bigger than the one that struggled in Miami. Changes are anticipated across sidepods, engine cover, mid-section, and both wings.

Haas and Alpine are seemingly bringing a noticeably bigger package than they had in Miami, and will be looking for a solid performance boost to improve their position in the tightly packed midfield.

Audi have everal visible revisions planned while keeping their distinctive sidepod and floor philosophy. Their secretive nature makes it hard to predict exact performance gains.

For Aston Martin, development remains relatively light on the aerodynamic side. The team’s main talking point is the gearbox reliability fix introduced in Japan and ongoing work on energy management.

It could be an exciting weekend, considering the fact that teams have not yet gotten a chance of properly testing their upgrades since F1's recent regulation changes, coupled with a potential wet race on Sunday!
