The Mahindra XUV700 has been a runaway success in India for its bold looks and strong value-for-money quotient. Nearly five years after its launch, Mahindra is introducing its major mid-life facelift.
Set to be launched on January 5, 2026, this facelift will also come with a name change - now to be called the XUV 7XO. This move follows the pattern of the XUV 3XO, which replaced the XUV300.
Sharper Looks

The XUV 7XO will keep the familiar silhouette of its predecessor, but with noticeable design tweaks all around. The front end could sport slim LED headlights shaped like pods, paired with C-shaped daytime running lights that echo designs from the XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
The grille might grow wider with clean slats and bigger air intakes for a more aggressive stance. At the back, similar tail lamps are expected, but with more LED elements. Revised front and rear bumpers will complement the overall look, while the new alloy wheel designs could elevate the otherwise unchanged side profile.
Overall, the changes seem subtle yet striking, aiming to make the XUV 7XO stand out among its rivals without losing its rugged charm.
Upgraded Tech and Comfort

The XUV 7XO’s cabin could feel like a step up in luxury, with the triple-screen dashboard set to make its way from its electric siblings. This layout features three 12.3-inch displays for the driver, central infotainment, and even the front passenger, allowing them to enjoy separate entertainment, perfect for long road trips.
Seating options are expected to carry over, with six and seven-seating configurations. Top-end 6-seater variants could now offer ventilated captain seats even in the second row. A fresh colour scheme for the dashboard and overall upholstery can be expected as well.
Audiophiles will enjoy the Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, offering an immersive sound experience. The steering wheel could be a two-spoke unit with an illuminated logo, offering a premium feel.
Unchanged Reliable Engines

The 7XO will carry over the same powerful and reliable powertrains from the 700. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit produces nearly 200 HP and 380 Nm of torque. Diesel lovers can opt for the 2.2-litre unit pushing 185 HP and a massive 450 Nm of torque.
Both engine options can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic. Top-end diesel variants should continue to offer all-wheel drive as an option.
These versatile options continue to position the XUV 7XO as a versatile choice for city commuters and highway cruisers alike.
Level 2 ADAS and 7 Airbags to Continue

Mahindra has had a strong track record with safety, and the XUV 7XO could build on that. Its top-end variants should continue to offer seven airbags and a Level 2 ADAS suite, with Auto Park Assist likely to be introduced.
However, the entry-level variants of the XUV700 currently miss out on safety essentials like six airbags, ESP, and Hill Hold Control - something its main rival, the Tata Safari, offers as standard. We expect and hope Mahindra does the same with the XUV 7XO.
The XUV700 has already scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash tests, assuring buyers of its safety.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Price

Prices for the XUV 7XO might range from ₹14 lakh to ₹26 lakh, ex-showroom - a slight increase from the XUV700’s current prices.
The XUV 7XO looks set to dominate the mid-size SUV segment, promising more style, smarter tech, and the same dependable powertrains.
Like the XUV700, it will continue to rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.
