Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel Overview
The HF Deluxe Flex Fuel takes Hero's most accessible commuter into ethanol territory without changing what makes it work. The 97.2cc engine carries over with a revised ECU, new fuel pump, and secondary fuel filter, enabling compatibility with any blend from E20 to E85. On E85, output rises to 8.56 PS and 8.3 Nm.
The semi-digital cluster with a digital fuel gauge is the only interior change. Visually, the black and lime yellow paint is the sole differentiator from the standard bike.
Engine, Performance and Mileage
Engine, Performance and Mileage
Both the HF Deluxe and Splendor Plus Flex Fuel share the same 97.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine at their core, but the internals have been meaningfully reworked. Hero revised the ECU calibration and upgraded the fuel system components to handle ethanol concentrations from E20 all the way up to E85.
On E85, peak output rises to 8.56 PS at 8,000 rpm and 8.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The standard HF Deluxe produces 8.02 PS and 8.05 Nm, so the gains are 0.54 PS and 0.25 Nm respectively.
That might sound marginal, but it matters for how the engine responds under load. Ethanol has a higher octane rating than petrol and burns cooler, which allows the ECU to advance ignition timing more aggressively without risk of knock.
The result is slightly sharper throttle response in the low-to-mid range, which is exactly where a 100cc commuter spends most of its life in city traffic. The 4-speed constant mesh gearbox and multiplate wet clutch carry over unchanged.
This is where flex fuel gets complicated, and Hero hasn't published separate ARAI-certified figures for the flex fuel variant yet. The standard HF Deluxe is rated at 68 kmpl by ARAI and 70 kmpl by ARAI on some variants. On E85
safety
safety
Safety equipment is identical to the top-end standard HF Deluxe: drum brakes front and rear (130 mm each) with Hero's Integrated Braking System (IBS). IBS distributes braking force across both wheels when the rear brake is applied. Side-stand engine cut-off, engine cut-off at fall, and hazard warning indicator are all present.
No disc brake or CBS upgrade here; this stays squarely within the spec sheet of the commuter segment.

The most meaningful addition on the feature front is the semi-digital instrument cluster. T
he standard HF Deluxe uses a fully analogue console, including an analogue fuel gauge. The Flex Fuel version gets a digital fuel gauge within an otherwise analogue speedometer pod. Everything else carries over, including i3S idle start-stop, side-stand engine cut-off, engine cut-off at fall, LED headlamp with HIPL, and a USB charging port.
