Simple Energy Wave Launched at Rs 1.10 Lakh With 243 km Range, Advanced Connected Features

CarHP was invited to the Simple Energy Wave launch event in Bengaluru today. Its price starts from Rs 1,09,999 ex-showroom, with the lineup spanning three variants and six models, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the last week of September 2026.

The Wave is Simple Energy's entry into the family scooter segment, engineered around storage, comfort, and everyday usability rather than outright performance.

Design and Ergonomics

The Wave’s design takes inspiration from a dolphin moving through water, with rounded panels and flowing lines instead of sharp creases. The side panels feature a wave motif, while the mirrors and tail-fin shaped grab handles follow the same theme.

LED lighting is standard, including the headlamp, DRLs, taillamp and indicators. The DRLs form a smile-shaped pattern, while Welcome Lights and Ambient Lights come on when the scooter is unlocked. The latter also lights up the charging port, while a Guide Me Home Light keeps the area around the scooter illuminated briefly after parking.

The Wave uses a tubular steel frame and has a 1,347 mm wheelbase, 775 mm seat height and 175 mm ground clearance. Its 920 mm seat is claimed to be the longest on an Indian scooter, while the payload capacity stands at 150 kg.

There are six colour options, Pearl White, Polar Blue, Forest Green, Coral Red, Twilight Black and Dolphin Grey, although not every colour is offered on every variant.

Motor and Performance

The Wave and Wave+ use a 6.4 kW electric motor producing 179 Nm of wheel torque. It uses a rare-earth-free design that Simple Energy says it is the first Indian OEM to commercially produce. The Wave S gets a smaller 4.5 kW motor. Both motors use a chain-drive transmission with Simple Energy’s Hushdrive system, which is designed to reduce drivetrain noise.

The Wave and Wave+ get four riding modes, including Sports, while the Wave S is limited to ECO X, ECO and RIDE modes. The more powerful versions have a 90 km/h top speed and can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.3 seconds.

The Wave S tops out at 75 km/h. All versions have a claimed 20-degree gradeability and 300 mm water-wading capability.

Battery, Range and Charging

The Wave S uses LFP batteries, while the Wave+ uses NCA chemistry for its higher energy density. All battery packs are IP67 rated. The Wave+ can charge from 0 to 80 per cent in 2 hours 15 minutes using a fast charger, while a 750W portable charger is included across the range.

As with other electric scooters, actual range will be lower than the claimed IDC figures.

Storage

Storage is one of the Wave’s biggest talking points, with 70 litres spread across three areas. This includes a 63-litre underseat boot, a 4-litre side-mounted Pill Storage compartment and a 3-litre front glovebox.

A second Pill Storage unit is also available as an optional accessory. The underseat boot is large enough to carry helmets, bags and groceries together.

Display and Tech

The Wave gets either a 7-inch TFT display with Simple Energy’s InfiniteBlack display architecture or a 5-inch EBN display, depending on the variant. TFT versions get Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS, OTA updates, call and music controls, message alerts and a USB charging port.

The Simple Connect app adds features such as live journey sharing, sending destinations to the scooter, remotely locating it and flashing the lights or sounding the horn.

Higher variants add vehicle health monitoring with AI-assisted diagnostics for the motor, controller, charging behaviour and usage patterns.

Connected Features

The connected system covers turn-by-turn navigation, GPS tracking, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, OTA updates, theft and tow alerts, Geofence, Timefence, Live Location Sharing, Ping My Scooter, Push Navigation, Roadside Assistance, ride statistics, charging updates, and AI-assisted vehicle health monitoring covering motor and controller health, charging behaviour, and usage patterns.

The app also handles calls, music, and WhatsApp messages through Bluetooth. Smart variants get Incognito Mode, which temporarily pauses ride tracking and location sharing.

Safety and Riding Aids

The Wave gets several electronic riding aids. GripSense adjusts motor torque based on rear-wheel movement to reduce wheel slip, while Super Hold uses the motor to hold the scooter on slopes without requiring brake input.

DropSafe cuts motor power if the scooter detects a fall. CBS is standard, along with theft and tow alerts that notify the owner through the app if the parked scooter is moved or tampered with.

Suspension, Braking and Wheels

The Wave uses telescopic front suspension and twin progressive rear shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a front disc and rear drum setup with CBS, while 12-inch alloy wheels are standard.

Warranty

Simple Energy offers a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty for the scooter, battery and motor. An extended battery and motor warranty is available for 5 years or 50,000 km, while the portable charger gets a 3-year or 20,000 km warranty. All warranty periods are subject to whichever limit comes first.

Price and Rivals

The Wave is priced from Rs 1,09,999 ex-showroom as part of an introductory offer, with bookings open through Simple Energy outlets and its website. It goes up against the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak, all of which have larger dealer networks.
