TVS iQube Base Variant Gets a Bigger Battery at Rs 1.16 Lakh, But There Are Catches

TVS has replaced the entry-level iQube 2.2 kWh with a new 2.3 kWh variant, priced at Rs 1,16,310 ex-showroom Delhi. The claimed IDC range jumps from 94 km to 114 km. The rest of the changes, though, are not all in the buyer's favour.
What TVS Has Changed
The motor has been downgraded to a 3.68 kW unit, from the 4.4 kW hub motor that every other iQube variant continues to use. This base variant is now the only one in the lineup with the smaller motor. Top speed drops from 75 kmph to 68 kmph, and the 0-40 kmph sprint slows from 4.2 seconds to 4.7 seconds.
At city speeds, neither figure creates a real problem. At 68 kmph flat out, however, any highway run becomes uncomfortable.
The TFT display has been swapped for a 5-inch LCD unit. Features like Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, reverse mode, OTA updates, and geofencing all carry over.
Charging from 0 to 80 percent takes 2 hours 50 minutes on the 950W charger, five minutes longer than before. Also, the front disc brake is gone. Both ends now get drums.

What This Actually Means for Buyers
The shift to a smaller motor, drum brakes, and an LCD screen seems like TVS is distancing this base model from the rest of the iQube lineup, and is actively encouraging buyers to step up to the 3.1 kWh or 3.5 kWh variants.
The 2.3 kWh model is strictly for those prioritizing range over performance, though the Rs 5,000 PM E-Drive subsidy does make its budget price tag a bit more appealing.
Rivals to Consider
At this price point, the Bajaj Chetak C3001 and C2501 are the obvious competition, both offering a more established service network. The Vida VX2 Go 2.2 kWh is another option in this bracket worth comparing on range and features before deciding.
