Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India registered 4,40,221 two-wheelers in July 2026 against Hero MotoCorp's 4,14,890, taking the monthly lead for the first time in the seven months of data available. The overall market fell 1.7 percent to 17,01,584 registrations. Hero's 34,727 unit drop is the single largest month on month decline.
Electric Two Wheeler Sales In July 2026

| Manufacturer | July 2026 | June 2026 | MoM Change | Jan to Jul 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ather Energy Ltd | 28,447 | 30,037 | -5.3% | 1,89,110 |
| Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd | 12,874 | 14,902 | -13.6% | 74,143 |
| Greaves Electric Mobility Ltd | 9,310 | 10,154 | -8.3% | 49,560 |
| River Mobility Pvt Ltd | 5,938 | 4,448 | +33.5% | 27,534 |
| BGauss Auto Private Limited | 4,999 | 3,732 | +33.9% | 22,582 |
| Sprinto Green Energy Pvt Ltd | 445 | 1,798 | -75.3% | 7,786 |
| Oben Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd | 420 | 432 | -2.8% | 3,106 |
| Total | 62,433 | 65,503 | -4.7% | 3,73,821 |
The three largest pure play electric manufacturers all went backwards in July, and the two smallest challengers both grew a third. That is an unusual shape for a segment that has spent most of the year expanding.
Ather remains comfortably ahead with almost half of this table, and its 28,447 puts it within striking distance of Yamaha's entire July volume. Its year has been lumpy rather than linear, with a 34,530 spike in March that it has not matched since.
Ola fell 13.6 percent and gave up 2,028 units, the largest absolute decline in this group.
The longer trend is still upward, since it moved from 3,883 in February to a peak of 14,902 in June, but July breaks a four month climb.

River Mobility posted the standout month here. It has grown from 2,856 in January to 5,938 in July, more than doubling, and it now sits ahead of BGauss for the first time despite BGauss growing at almost the same rate.
BGauss reached 4,999 in July, its best month by a clear margin and roughly 34 percent above its previous high.
Both it and River are still small enough that a single strong dealer expansion moves the percentage sharply, so the next two months will show whether this is a step change or a spike.
Mass Market Two Wheeler Sales

The eight manufacturers below account for 16,34,669 registrations, or 96.1 percent of all two-wheelers registered in July.
| Manufacturer | July 2026 | June 2026 | MoM Change | Jan to Jul 2026 | Share of Segment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (P) Ltd | 4,40,221 | 4,26,445 | +3.2% | 30,94,927 | 26.9% |
| Hero MotoCorp Ltd | 4,14,890 | 4,49,617 | -7.7% | 33,34,299 | 25.4% |
| TVS Motor Company Ltd | 3,55,022 | 3,44,529 | +3.0% | 24,59,808 | 21.7% |
| Bajaj Auto Ltd | 1,68,054 | 1,77,631 | -5.4% | 13,12,236 | 10.3% |
| Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd | 98,935 | 1,02,632 | -3.6% | 6,87,718 | 6.1% |
| Royal Enfield (Unit of Eicher Ltd) | 87,775 | 89,697 | -2.1% | 6,40,593 | 5.4% |
| India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd | 65,642 | 66,101 | -0.7% | 4,42,374 | 4.0% |
| Classic Legends Pvt Ltd | 4,130 | 4,285 | -3.6% | 30,769 | 0.3% |
| Total | 16,34,669 | 16,60,937 | -1.6% | 1,20,02,724 | 100% |
The Honda and Hero switch is the month's real story, and it happened through Hero falling rather than Honda surging. Hero led every month from January through June, by margins ranging from 14,593 in January to 74,741 in April.
In July that lead became a 25,331 unit deficit.
Hero's decline has been running for three months. It peaked at 5,35,940 in April and has shed volume every month since, finishing July at its lowest point of the year.
Across the full seven months Hero still leads Honda by 2,39,372 units, so the annual title is not in danger, but the direction of travel is.

Honda has been the steadier of the two all year. Its monthly figures have stayed in a narrow band between 4,19,484 and 4,61,199, never spiking and never collapsing, which is why a modest 3.2 percent gain was enough to take the lead when Hero softened.
TVS was the only other large manufacturer to grow, up 3 percent to 3,55,022 and its second best month of the year. It has now closed to within 59,868 units of Hero, a gap that stood at 1,72,861 in April.
Bajaj fell 5.4 percent and has declined for four consecutive months, dropping from 2,11,101 in March to 1,68,054 in July.
That is a loss of just over 43,000 units a month across the run, and it is the steepest sustained decline of any large manufacturer in the dataset.
Suzuki gave up 3.6 percent but remains the most stable performer in the table. It has stayed between 93,096 and 1,02,632 every single month this year, a band of under 10,000 units, which no other manufacturer at this volume can claim.
Royal Enfield fell 2.1 percent to 87,775. Its year peaked at 1,04,190 in January and bottomed at 80,434 in May, so July represents a partial recovery rather than a decline in trend.
Yamaha was essentially flat at 65,642, down just 0.7 percent, and Classic Legends slipped 3.6 percent to 4,130. Classic Legends has moved within a 795 unit range all year.

Premium and Luxury Two Wheeler Makers

| Manufacturer | July 2026 | June 2026 | MoM Change | Jan to Jul 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd | 3,603 | 3,267 | +10.3% | 22,438 |
| India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd | 482 | 396 | +21.7% | 2,890 |
| BMW India Pvt Ltd | 372 | 332 | +12.0% | 3,003 |
| Ducati India Pvt Ltd | 25 | 41 | -39.0% | 270 |
| Total | 4,482 | 4,036 | +11.0% | 28,601 |
This was the only one of the three segments to grow in July, up 11 percent while electric fell 4.7 percent and mass market fell 1.6 percent. Three of the four manufacturers gained.
Piaggio dominates the bucket with four fifths of the volume, and its 3,603 units are its best month of the year.
Kawasaki's 21.7 percent gain took it to 482, its highest since January and its second best month of the year. BMW added 12 percent to reach 372, though it remains well below the 628 it registered in January and has not recovered that level since.
Ducati fell to 25 units. At that scale the percentage is close to meaningless, but the seven month total of 270 tells the clearer story: Ducati is registering fewer than 40 bikes a month in India and has done so consistently.
