Honda India is set to expand its two-wheeler portfolio with new premium motorcycles, scooters, and electric models as part of its FY2027 growth strategy.
Honda's move comes as demand for premium two-wheelers continues to rise. It now aims to retain existing customers by offering a wider range of products as they graduate from commuter motorcycles to larger, more capable models.

Honda Could Introduce New Premium Scooters In India

Alongside new motorcycles, Honda is expected to expand its premium scooter portfolio in India. In recent months, the company has filed patents for several global scooter models, indicating that it is evaluating them for the Indian market.
Among the notable models is the Honda Airblade, which could compete in the premium scooter space alongside the Yamaha Aerox 155, and the Honda Click 125, a sporty scooter expected to feature a liquid-cooled engine.
Why Honda Is Focusing On Premium Motorcycles
Honda's strategy reflects changing buying patterns in India's two-wheeler market. As more customers upgrade from commuter motorcycles to premium products, Honda sees an opportunity to strengthen its presence in higher-displacement segments while improving customer retention.

Honda Eyes Growth Beyond The Commuter Segment

Despite its premium expansion plans, Honda's business remains heavily dependent on commuter motorcycles. In FY26, around 81 percent of the company's motorcycle sales came from the 110cc-125cc segment, while the 151cc-350cc category contributed only 13 percent.
Expanding its premium range is expected to help Honda reduce its reliance on entry-level models and capture a larger share of India's growing premium motorcycle market.
Honda Expands Production Capacity Ahead Of Future Launches
To support its future product plans, Honda is increasing production capacity at its Tapukara and Vithalapur manufacturing facilities by 6.5 lakh units annually.
Honda targets a total annual manufacturing capacity of around 80 lakh units in India by 2028, giving the company greater flexibility to introduce new premium motorcycles, scooters, and electric two-wheelers in the coming years.
