Updated on April 8, 2026

The Carnival emphasises Kia’s signature bold styling and gets spacious interiors, defined by its long wheelbase and overall dimensions compared to its predecessor, focusing on rear-seat comfort for families and chauffeur-driven use.

It is built on a front-wheel-drive platform and powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing 193 hp and 441 Nm, through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the cabin prioritises second-row luxury with captain seats that offer multiple adjustment options, while the overall layout supports both self-driven and passenger-focused scenarios.

Key features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and electric sliding doors plus a power tailgate add convenience.

On the safety end, it comes equipped with 8 airbags and Level 2 ADAS featuring 23 features, including forward collision avoidance with pedestrian, cyclist and junction turning detection, among others. In addition, the model has received a 5-star ANCAP safety rating for adult and child occupant protection on the fourth-generation platform.

Engine and Performance

The Carnival is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces a power output of 193 hp and 441 Nm peak torque. The engine drives the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission in a front-wheel-drive (2WD) configuration.

fuel economy

The Carnival has an ARAI-certified fuel economy figure of 14.85 kmpl. It is equipped with a 72-litre fuel tank.

interior

The Carnival’s interior dashboard adopts a clean, horizontal layout finished in premium materials with a two-tone Tuscan Tan and Umber theme, accented by satin silver interior door handles and 64-color ambient mood lighting.

It integrates dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and touchscreen, the latter supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and is complemented by a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with multi-function controls, illumination, and paddle shifters.

For added convenience, the cabin includes an auto anti-glare IRVM, an illuminated glovebox, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a wireless charger with USB ports distributed across all rows.

Lastly, seating includes powered and ventilated front seats with memory, while the second row offers independent captain chairs featuring power recline, leg support, ventilation, and heating.

Meanwhile, the third-row folds flat for added flexibility, and rear passengers are further accommodated with dedicated climate controls, sunblinds, and multiple charging points.

exterior

Look wise, at the front, the Carnival gets a black and chrome 'Tiger Nose' grille, flanked by Intelligent Ice Cube LED Projection Headlamps with auto functionality and Starmap Daytime Running Lights. The lower fascia is finished with LED front fog lamps and a matte chrome-plated skid plate.

At the side, the 5155 mm length and 3090 mm wheelbase body are complemented by 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 235/60 R18 tyres and side sill garnishes with matte chrome inserts. The side also gets body-coloured door handles with chrome accents, puddle lamps, and flush electric sliding doors.

Along the roofline, the Carnival comes roof rails, a shark fin antenna, and a dual electric sunroof.

The rear completes the exterior with LED combination lamps, an LED rear fog lamp, and a hidden rear wiper. A rear spoiler houses the LED high-mounted stop lamp, while the smart power tailgate and matte chrome-plated skid plate complete the exterior design.

safety

The Carnival gets comprehensive safety, including 8 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, and brake assist, alongside hill-start assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera.

It also offers Level 2 ADAS with 23 autonomous features, including forward collision avoidance for cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and junction turning. The system also integrates lane keep assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe exit assist, driver attention warning, and smart cruise control with stop-and-go functionality.

In terms of crash testing, the model received a 5-star rating from ANCAP, scoring 34.54 out of 38 points for adult protection and 43.52 out of 49 for child occupant protection. While it has not yet been tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP, these international results provide a clear indication of its overall safety performance.

competition

The Carnival’s closest direct rivals in its segment space are the Toyota Innova Hycross and the Toyota Vellfire.

Compared with the Innova Hycross, the Carnival provides a longer 3090 mm wheelbase that translates into noticeably more third-row legroom and a more spacious overall cabin, along with higher torque from its diesel engine (441 Nm versus the Hycross hybrid’s output). It also includes a more comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite.

Against the Vellfire, the Carnival offers a diesel powertrain that delivers stronger low-end pull and better value positioning, while the Vellfire counters with its hybrid system for higher claimed efficiency and a slightly more opulent second-row experience in higher trims.
