The Sealion 6 DM-i is BYD's upcoming PHEV SUV for India. It was showcased in 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, and has been spied testing on Indian roads since then. It uses iDM hybrid powertrain with likely 1000 km of combined range. BYD has not confirmed the launch yet, but is expected to arrive in late 2026, or even 2027.

BYD Sealion 6 Overview

The Sealion 6 is BYD's plug-in hybrid SUV, globally sold as the Song Plus and Seal U in certain markets. BYD showcased it at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier in 2025 and has been testing it on Indian roads.

The DM-i hybrid system is electric-first by design. Under everyday conditions the electric motor drives the wheels while the 1.5-litre petrol engine generates electricity, stepping in to assist during hard acceleration. FWD variants are expected to make 218 bhp and AWD versions up to 344 bhp.

Feature-wise, the global model gets a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, and 8-way powered front seats. India-spec details are yet to be confirmed.
