Skoda Superb Diesel Expected to Launch in India in the First Half of 2027

Diesel is about to make its first appearance in India's premium sedan segment since 2020, and it is Skoda bringing it back. The fourth-generation Superb is expected to arrive as a diesel CBU in the first half of 2027, after plans for a late-2026 launch were pushed back.
No carmaker has sold a premium diesel sedan in India since BS6 kicked in. The Toyota Camry, which is the only rival in that price bracket, runs a petrol-hybrid setup. Six years is a long time for that gap to sit unfilled, and Skoda is betting there is still a buyer for it.
The engine in question is VW Group's 2.0-litre TDI, producing around 193 hp and 400 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG. On paper, it is well-suited to long highway runs, which is where a large sedan like the Superb actually makes sense.

CBU Imports To Keep Prices High
The Superb will come in as a completely built unit from Skoda's Bratislava plant, which has no CKD export capability. So expect steep import duties, and Rs 55-60 lakh price range.
The one thing that could change the equation is the EU-India free trade agreement, which is expected to take effect next year. A reduction in CBU duties under that agreement could make the Superb meaningfully more accessible than its price tag currently suggests.

The Superb Has Returned Before
This is not the Superb's first return. The previous third-gen model had a second brief run in India as an import, limited to just 100 units. Skoda clearly sees the Superb more as a brand anchor than a volume product, and this fourth-gen edition is likely to follow the same playbook.
Skoda has not officially confirmed launch timing, pricing, or India-spec details yet. The car was displayed at both the 2025 and 2026 Bharat Mobility Shows, so the intent is clear enough. The confirmation is the only thing still pending.
