Renault is preparing to update its compact SUV, the Kiger, with a mid-life facelift expected to arrive before the 2025 festive season. Recently spied test mules give a glimpse of the visual and feature upgrades in store, though the SUV will retain its existing powertrains.
New Look
The updated Renault Kiger will come with subtle yet sharper design tweaks. Inspired by global Renault models like the Kardian SUV, the front fascia is expected to sport a new bumper with a larger central air intake. While the split headlamp layout remains similar to the current model, the grille could get a refreshed look along with a redesigned Renault logo.
Higher variants may benefit from new LED fog lamps, something that’s missing on many newer SUVs today. Changes will be largely cosmetic, limited to plastic components. The body panels are likely to remain unchanged.
Interiors
Inside, the facelifted Kiger is expected to offer better quality materials, new seat upholstery, and more soft-touch surfaces, depending on the variant. The digital driver display and 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will carry over.
Despite the updates, the Kiger will still not offer a sunroof on any variant, an omission that may be a key differentiator in this segment.
No Changes Under the Hood
Renault is not expected to make any mechanical changes to the Kiger facelift. It will continue with the same two engine options as before. The first is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 hp and is available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The second is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 100 hp and comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a CVT. Both engine setups will remain unchanged in the updated model.
Rivals
The Kiger facelift will continue to compete with compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue (which is due for a new-gen update soon), Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, and the higher variants of the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3.
Renault is likely to launch the updated Kiger before Diwali 2025.
