The Renault Duster makes a strong comeback in India in its third generation, aiming to revive the SUV that once created the mid size segment. First launched in 2012, the Duster changed how Indian buyers looked at rugged yet practical SUVs. The 2026 model builds on that legacy with a tougher stance, premium features and multiple powertrain options.

Built on the Renault Group platform, this is an India specific SUV with nearly 90 percent of its development done locally and extensive tuning carried out on racing tracks to suit Indian roads and driving conditions.

“In India, Renault Duster is far more than just a name – it is a true legend. A symbol of adventure, reliability, and innovation, its return reflects our commitment to the Indian market and our intention to offer vehicles designed and engineered to meet our customers' needs. New Renault Duster builds on its iconic legacy while embracing modern design, advanced technology, and enhanced performance.”

Exterior and Design

The new Duster looks muscular and purpose built. It rides on 18 inch alloy wheels and offers a strong 212 mm ground clearance, along with approach and departure angles of 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees. Functional roof rails with 50 kg roof load bearing bars enhance its adventure ready appeal.

Design highlights include new LED headlights with eyebrow style DRLs, pixel shaped fog lamps and a bold grille with Duster badging. Piano black elements on the front, roof and rear spoiler add contrast, while connected LED tail lamps and a roof mounted spoiler give it a modern finish. Buyers also get eye catching shades like Mountain Jade Green and the iconic Yellow, which stands out even more on the Launch Edition.

Interior and Infotainment

Step inside and the Duster greets you with a fighter jet inspired cockpit that feels sporty and ergonomic. The cabin is clearly driver focused, with all key functions placed within easy reach. It features a large 25.65 cm multimedia touchscreen paired with a 26.03 cm digital driver cluster, both designed to keep information clear and accessible.

The Google built in system adds smart connectivity, while physical buttons remain for essential controls. Premium touches include carbon fibre finish on the dashboard, contrast yellow stitching on the seats and dashboard, and up to 48 ambient lighting colours that allow occupants to personalise the cabin mood.

Comfort and Convenience

Renault has significantly raised comfort levels in the new Duster. It offers electric front seats with 6 way adjustment and manual lumbar support, along with front ventilated seats for relaxed long drives. A huge electric panoramic sunroof enhances the sense of space, while dual zone automatic climate control keeps the cabin comfortable for all occupants

The air quality system includes an AQI display with a PM 2.5 filter. Other highlights include an elevated centre console with e shifter, wireless smartphone charging, an electric power tailgate and an impressive 700 litres of boot space for luggage heavy trips.

Engine and Performance

The 2026 Duster offers three engine options to suit different needs. The highlight is the Turbo TCe 160 petrol engine, which produces 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful SUV in its segment. It is paired with a wet clutch 6 speed DCT that delivers smooth acceleration and confident highway performance

For those seeking accessible performance, the Turbo TCe 100 engine offers 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque, paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox, ideal for responsive city driving and open roads. The strong hybrid E Tech option combines a 1.8 litre GDI engine, an 8 speed DHT with two motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, enabling up to 80 percent EV only driving in city conditions. Three drive modes allow drivers to tailor performance based on road and driving style.

Safety

Safety is a major focus for the new Duster, which has been engineered with a target of achieving a 5 star safety rating. It comes equipped with advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and emergency braking. A 360 degree camera improves visibility in tight spaces, while the strong platform and improved structural rigidity enhance overall occupant protection.

The Renault Duster also stands out as the only car in its segment to offer a 7 year warranty, giving buyers long term peace of mind and reinforcing Renault’s confidence in the SUV’s build quality and reliability.
