MG Windsor EV Crosses 65,000 Unit Sales Mark

The MG Windsor EV has achieved a significant milestone, crossing 65,000 units in cumulative sales.

A standout aspect of its success is the buyer profile. Around 70 percent of the total sales have come from non-metro cities and towns. In contrast, major metro areas such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai account for only about 30 percent of the demand.

This trend shows that electric vehicle adoption is spreading well beyond big cities, thanks to greater awareness, better charging options, and the appeal of lower running costs.

The Windsor EV stands out for its practical design and flexible ownership options. It offers two powertrain choices built around the same electric motor, which produces 100 kW (equivalent to 134 bhp) of power and 200 Nm of torque.

The standard version uses a 38 kWh battery that delivers a claimed range of 332 km on a single charge. The Pro variant steps up to a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive claimed range of 449 km.

Under the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the Windsor EV starts at just ₹9.99 lakh. Owners then pay a usage fee of ₹3.9 per kilometre for the battery, which significantly lowers the upfront cost compared with a traditional outright purchase.

The MG Windsor EV competes with the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
