The GST 2.0 reforms have caused a significant shift in India's automotive tax landscape, consolidating rates into slabs, such as 18% for smaller vehicles and 40% for larger models, while eliminating the compensation cess. MG Motor India, under JSW MG, has capitalised on this opportunity, revising prices across its SUV lineup.

These reductions, ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹1.57 lakh, align with the festive season demand and enhance MG's competitiveness against rival brands like Toyota, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra.

MG Gloster

The MG Gloster sees the largest price cuts under the 40% slab, reflecting the removal of the cess. The entry-level Sharp 7S drops by ₹1.24 lakh, down to ₹38.33 lakh from ₹39.57 lakh, while the top-end Blackstorm 4WD 7S variant drops by ₹1.57 lakh to ₹43.17 lakh. These substantial savings, starting from ₹38.33 lakh, make the Gloster more accessible compared to the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian, appealing to families seeking luxury and off-road capability.

MG Hector

The MG Hector benefits from the 40% slab shift, with reductions up to ₹76,000 on petrol and ₹1.49 lakh on diesel variants. The base Select 1.5 Petrol MT now starts at ₹14.00 lakh (down ₹50,000), and the top Sharp Pro 2.0 Diesel MT drops to ₹19.69 lakh from ₹21.10 lakh. These adjustments position the Hector competitively against the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
