The Tata Sierra EV is set to make its official debut tomorrow, reviving a legendary nameplate in an all-electric form. Built on the Acti.ev+ platform, it promises a blend of rugged capability, modern technology, and Tata's signature safety focus.

Here are details on its key confirmed features.

Dual Motor QWD (All-Wheel Drive)

The Tata Sierra EV will offer a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, which Tata calls QWD (Quad Wheel Drive). Just like in the Harrier EV this setup will likely be exclusive to the bigger 75 kWh battery variants. It combines a rear motor with a front motor for superior traction, better acceleration, and enhanced off-road performance.

Compared to the rear-wheel drive versions, the QWD variant is expected to deliver close to 310 bhp and 500 Nm torque, making it capable on challenging surfaces. This configuration improves stability during cornering, quick overtakes, and slippery conditions, while also supporting higher gradability for steep inclines.

Those of you living in hilly or heavy monsoon-prone areas will appreciate the added confidence.

Multiple Terrain Modes with Boost Mode

The Sierra EV comes with multiple terrain modes to handle diverse driving conditions, with Sand mode shown in the Abu Dhabi dune climb teaser. Other modes likely include Normal, Rock Crawl, Snow, Mud, and Custom.

These modes adjust power delivery, throttle response, traction control, and other parameters according to the terrain for better control. Drivers can easily switch modes via a selector, enhancing safety and enjoyment.

AWD variants get an exclusive Boost mode that temporarily unlocks maximum power and torque for faster acceleration or challenging inclines.

Triple Screen Display

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to feature a premium triple-screen setup in top variants, building on the ICE Sierra's layout. This includes a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a large central infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated passenger display.

The system offers seamless connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and advanced infotainment features. Passengers will enjoy entertainment options while the driver gets clear information on navigation, battery status, and vehicle parameters. The setup likely includes a sound bar for immersive audio and possible AR-HUD integration for added convenience.

Lower variants are expected to be decently equipped too with a twin screen setup.

Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof

A dual-pane panoramic sunroof is confirmed for the Sierra EV, adding a better sense of space and premium feel to the cabin. This feature allows ample natural light and a great view of the sky.

For India's varied climate, it comes with voice-assisted controls and a sun shade for comfort. Rear passengers benefit from the expansive glass, improving airiness in the SUV. It should pair well with ventilated seats and ambient lighting for a luxurious experience.

Advanced Safety Features

Typical of Tata, safety will surely remain a priority with six airbags, 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control in higher trims. All-wheel disc brakes and strong structural engineering add further protection.

Just like its ICE counterpart, we expect the Harrier EV to score 5 stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests as well.
