- Together with XEV 9E, the BE forms Mahindra's INGLO duo rivalling Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta Electric
Well, as of 26th November 2024, this is not a fantasy anymore, as Mahindra has just launched the BE 6e electric SUV with a starting price of only Rs. 18.9 lakhs!
UPDATE (01): Due to copyright issues with Indigo Airlines, Mahindra & Mahindra has updated the name of BE 6e to BE 6.
UPDATE (02): The top-end BE 6 Pack 3 variant with the 79 kWh battery pack has been revealed with a price tag of Rs. 26.9 Lakhs, while the prices of the mid-variants are not out yet.

The Mahindra BE 6e follows a coupe-SUV design language just like its larger sibling, the XEV 9e. However, the BE 6e seems to target a younger customer base, while its elder sibling is focused on the more mature and practicality-oriented consumers.
The Mahindra BE 6e Sorts Out The EV Issues
Addressing the worries of EV ownership, the Mahindra BE 6e EV comes with two battery packs; one is of 59 kWh, and the other is of 79 kWh. The larger pack comes with 682 km of certified range, and you can easily expect over 500 km of real-life range out of it. Most importantly, the BE 6e can recharge from 20-80% in just 20 minutes with a 175 kW DC charger!
As per Mahindra, they have sourced these battery packs from BYD, one of the most renowned names in the EV segment, so you can surely trust the components. Moreover, Mahindra will offer a lifetime warranty on the battery packs for the first owner, while the second owner will be able to claim the same for 10 years or 200,000 km (whichever is earlier).

In case you're wondering about the pace, it does 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds! The power figures stand at 288 HP and 380 NM of torque, which is insane for a car under 20 lakhs and better than its rival Curvv.
For a better perspective, you can compare it to the Kia EV6, which offers 320 horsepower and starts at over 60 lakhs in the ex-showroom!
Additionally, the BE 6e comes with independent rear suspensions, and they have also introduced a brake-by-wire feature.
What Is INGLO in Mahindra cars?
You might have seen some INGLO badging on the Mahindra BE 6e and it stands for India-Global, a born-electric platform that will be the base of the upcoming Mahindra EVs. Meaning, that the cars on this platform will be making it to the international markets, which compels the cars to be supremely rich in terms of material quality!
All of this makes the Mahindra BE 6e EV SUV a crazy good value-for-money proposition as an electric car. And the aggressive pricing functions as the most lucrative possible cherry on top of it!
But hey, that's not it!
Remember, cars are also gadgets these days, and there's a ton of techy stuff in this Mahindra that you can play around with.
The Tech Side Of The BE 6e!

For example, the BE 6e comes with a triple-screen setup on the dash, which is the first for any car manufactured in India. The infotainment system is paired with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system by Dolby Atmos. You have a large panoramic glass roof that lights up with the music.
In terms of safety, Mahindra not only offers the ADAS Level 2 technology, but the BE 6e also gets a Driver Monitoring setup with a small camera on the roof. This will track the driver's attention on the road and alert in case it notices any hazard or abnormality.
Also, good news if you struggle with parallel parking: the Mahindra BE 6e comes with an automated parking system, so you won't need to sweat anymore.
So What Are Our Thoughts?

A good car at a good price with a great package means better sales for the company. But if you have been following us for a while, you must have noticed that we at @carhp.india look at how it benefits the consumers in the end.
This time, it will only better the market in terms of everything and force other manufacturers to launch better products at aggressive price tags, which indeed benefits the consumers at the end of the day.
We are eager to drive the Mahindra BE 6e very soon. Stay tuned to carhp.in for more updates on the upcoming cars!
