The Volkswagen Taigun is an enthusiast’s pick for many buyers, especially those who value the TSI engines, the MQB platform, high-speed stability, and 5-star safety over rivals like the Hyundai Creta, which offers a bigger cabin and comes with richer features, and a wider service network.
This is the facelifted 2026 Taigun with refreshed styling, more features - panoramic sunroof, bigger screens, etc., and an updated lineup. If you lean toward the VW, here’s every current variant explained.
However, if you’re also considering its Czech sibling on the same platform, we’ve covered the Skoda Kushaq separately.
Volkswagen Taigun Prices And Variants Summary
The Taigun range opens at ₹10.99 lakh for the Comfortline and tops out at ₹19.29 lakh for the GT Plus Sport, spanning a nearly ₹8.30 lakh window. The Chrome line alone covers ₹10.99 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh across eight variants - Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, and GT Plus Chrome.
Whereas, the Sport line adds three more - GT Line at ₹14.59-15.74 lakh and the GT Plus Sport at ₹19.29 lakh.
Powertrain-wise, every variant below the GT Plus tier uses the 1.0-litre making 115.6 hp and 178 Nm of torque paired to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic.
Also, the GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport exclusively run the 1.5-litre making 150 hp and 250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG. Note that no manual option exists on either.

What's Common Across All Volkswagen Taigun Variants?
Every Taigun comes with a certified 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, accompanied by six airbags (dual front, front side, and curtain). A full safety electronics suite is also standard throughout the range, comprising ESC, ABS with EBD, Multi-Collision Brakes, Brake Assist, Anti-Slip Regulation, and Electronic Differential Lock.
This is further supplemented by a Tire Pressure Deflation Warning, ISOFIX for two rear seats, and 3-point belts at all five positions across every variant.
Every model also feature engine idle start-stop alongside electrically adjustable door mirrors, a rear defogger, a rear wiper and washer, and a 12V front socket. Lighting-wise, full LED headlamps with DRL, all-weather lights with static cornering, and auto-levelling headlights are also standard across the range.
Inside the cabin, all variants get Smart Touch Climatronic single-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and IR Cut Glass.
Finally, this consistent equipment level extends to a multi-function steering wheel, six speakers, and at minimum wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Here is what you get with each of the Taigun variants sitting comfortably under 20 lakhs:
Taigun Comfortline Base Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun Comfortline Base Model?
The Comfortline is the cheapest way into the Taigun's powertrain and platform, but it sits noticeably behind the rest of the range in areas that surface in daily use.
The infotainment screen is the older 17.78 cm unit - smaller than the 25.65 cm VW Play screen that every other variant gets. There is also no wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, no front parking sensors (rear only), and the rear bench is a single 100% fold unit rather than a 60:40 split. In addition, the wheels are steel with plastic covers.
The Highline MT at ₹12.69 lakh costs ₹1.70 lakh more, and it resolves every one of these compromises in a single jump - larger screen, alloy wheels, wireless connectivity, front and rear cameras, and a split rear bench.
Unless budget is a genuinely hard ceiling, the Comfortline is difficult to recommend over the Highline. The gap between them feels larger inside the car than it does on paper.

Taigun Highline Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun Highline Model?
Highline is the point where the Taigun starts making sense as a daily package. The 25.65 cm VW Play touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, Hello Volkswagen voice assistant, R16 alloys, reversing camera, and both front and rear parking sensors all arrive here. Also, the rear bench gains a 60:40 split fold and a centre armrest.
The MT at ₹12.69 lakh gets no cruise control, while the AT at ₹13.79 lakh adds cruise control, paddle shifters, and hill start assist for ₹1.10 lakh more - worth it in city drives and if expressways or slopes are a regular part of your driving.
Note that the Highline Plus MT sits just ₹50,000 above the Highline AT, and it adds a sunroof, leatherette seats, KESSY, R17 alloys, auto headlights, folding mirrors, which is a larger feature jump than what the AT adds over the MT.

Taigun Highline Plus Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun Highline Plus Model?
Highline Plus is where the Taigun's feature offering starts feeling complete. The electric sunroof, KESSY push-button start, leatherette seats in Storm Grey with black piping, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, electrically folding mirrors, and a cooled glove box all arrive here over the Highline. Also, the wheels step up to R17 diamond-cut dual-tone alloys.
The MT at ₹14.29 lakh is the stronger value pick over the GT Line MT, as it costs ₹30,000 less while offering leatherette seats that the latter doesn't.
Whereas, the AT at ₹15.44 lakh adds cruise control and hill start assist for ₹1.15 lakh more, but immediately raises the question of the Topline MT at ₹15.99 lakh - just ₹55,000 more - which adds ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, a configurable digital cockpit, and a subwoofer-equipped sound system.
If automatic is non-negotiable, this is valid, but if you're open to a manual, stretching to the Topline MT makes considerably more sense.

Taigun Topline Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun Topline Model?
Topline is the fully-loaded ceiling of the 1.0-litre Chrome line. Over the Highline Plus, it adds ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a configurable 26.03cm digital cockpit with Active Info Display, a digital sound package with subwoofer, footwell illumination, illuminated front and rear VW logos, and included MyVolkswagen Connect Plus.
Ventilated seats and the panoramic sunroof are what you feel daily, while the digital cockpit and upgraded sound are appreciated rather than decisive.
The MT at ₹15.99 lakh suits buyers who want the full feature set without paying for the automatic. While the AT at ₹17.17 lakh adds cruise control, paddle shifters, and hill start assist, which is legitimate value if city driving is frequent.
What features does Volkswagen Taigun Topline add/upgrades over Highline Plus?

|---|---|

Taigun GT Plus Chrome Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Chrome Model?
GT Plus Chrome is the Chrome line's flagship and the only 1.5-litre variant that doesn't commit fully to the Sport line's all-black aesthetic. The 1.5-litre TSI produces 150 hp and 250 Nm, and the 7-speed DSG transforms the car's character from relaxed cruiser to something noticeably keener. Also, the Active Cylinder Technology deactivates two cylinders under light load, which translates to real fuel savings on highway runs.
The GT trim also brings Storm Grey and Soul dual-tone leatherette with Flash Red piping, red brake calipers front and rear, aluminum pedals, laser red ambient lighting, and dual-tone exterior with a black roof.
Over the Topline AT, you're paying ₹1.82 lakh for the engine and gearbox upgrade plus the GT visual package - that's the honest summary. The DSG's tendency for low-speed jerkiness in dense city traffic is a real consideration if your use is predominantly urban.
For those who want the performance step but prefer chrome and grey accents over the Sport line's blacked-out treatment, this is the only GT Plus to consider.
What features does Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Chrome add/upgrades over Topline?
| Category | Specs |
|---|---|
| GT Elements | GT branding at front grill in Red, GT branding on tailgate in Red, GT branding on doors in Red, GT Clasp on Steering wheel without Red accent, Storm Grey/Soul - Dual tone leatherette seat upholstery with piping and stitching in Flash Red, Embroidered GT logo in Red color in back rest front seats, Center armrest in Leatherette, front, Laser red ambient lighting, GT welcome message on infotainment, Alu pedals, Red painted brake calliper in front & rear, Dual tone exterior with roof painted in Deep Black (in certain exterior colours) |
| Exterior | Front Illuminated VW Logo, Functional roof rails, silver, Chrome applique on door handles, Chrome garnish on window bottom line, Rear Illuminated VW Logo |
| Interior | Amur Grey Glossy décor with Edgy Opulence inserts, Footwell Illumination, 20.32 cm Digital cockpit (instrument cluster) |
| Wheels & Colours | 43.2 cm R17 ‘Plus’ Alloy wheels, dual tone diamond cut (set of 4), Avocado Pearl Effect, Wild Cherry Red Metallic, Steel Grey, Lava Blue Metallic, Candy White, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Carbon Steel Grey Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic, Carbon Steel Grey Matte |

Taigun GT Line Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun GT Line Model?
GT Line offers the Sport exterior package - comprising of black R17 alloys, black roof, dark mirrors, glossy black bumper strips, red GT badging inside and out - with the standard 1.0-litre 115.6 hp and 178 Nm.
The 20.32 cm digital cockpit is a nice addition over the Highline Plus, but GT Line uses fabric seats where the Highline Plus MT at ₹14.29 lakh already has leatherette. Also, there are no ventilated seats, no electric front seats, no footwell illumination, and no subwoofer here - those only come with GT Plus.
The MT at ₹14.59 lakh is for those who want Sport aesthetics, and is notably the only manual option in the entire Sport line. Whereas, the AT at ₹15.74 lakh costs ₹25,000 less than the Topline MT, which adds ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a larger digital cockpit, and a subwoofer for that modest gap.
Overall, the GT Line's case is entirely aesthetic. If the black Sport look drives your decision, it's a legitimate choice, but if you're indifferent to it, the Topline MT is better value at nearly the same price.
What features does Volkswagen Taigun GT Line add/upgrades over GT Plus Chrome?

Taigun GT Plus Sport Top Model

Who Should Buy The Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport?
GT Plus Sport is the range-topper at ₹19.29 lakh and costs ₹30,000 more than the GT Plus Chrome. The mechanical specification between the two is identical, including same - Active Cylinder Technology, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, electric front seats, 26.03 cm configurable digital cockpit, and sound system.
The difference is purely a matter of visual styling, as it gets blacked-out treatment applied to every exterior element - black roof rails, gloss black bumper strips, black front and rear diffusers, dark chrome door handle appliques, black tailgate lettering, and black door mirrors.
Inside, the cabin is all-black leatherette with a black headliner, Black Glossy décor panel, and a GT Clasp with a red accent on the steering wheel, versus the Chrome's unaccented version.
The cumulative effect is a noticeably darker, more aggressive-looking car both outside and in.
At ₹30,000 for a fully coherent visual theme change across the entire vehicle, the Sport's premium is justified if the aesthetic resonates with you. If neither the blacked-out exterior nor the all-black cabin appeals, save the ₹30,000 and take the Chrome.

| Consider Volkswagen Taigun | Don’t consider Volkswagen Taigun |
|---|---|
| You want the much improved 8 speed automatic from base model above | The base model Taigun comes with 6 speed automatic not 8 speed |
| You like the way Virtus drives but don't wat the sedan body, ground clearance matters to you | Base model Kushaq has 8 speed automatic and alloy wheels as standard along with a single pane sunroof |
| You really think the facelifted version is worth the wait and money | The Pre-Facelifted Taigun is equally as impressive and is being cleared out with heavy discounts |
