The Volkswagen Taigun facelift has arrived with much-needed fresh updates.

Launched at a starting price of around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), it brings over 40 new additions across design, comfort, technology and powertrain.

Here are the top 10 features that stand out in the new model.

1. New Exterior Design with LED Lighting

The facelift gives the Taigun a new look, featuring full-LED headlamps connected by a sleek light band across the grille, plus illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear that glow at night.

The redesigned bumpers, fresh alloy wheels in 16-inch and 17-inch sizes, and updated tail lamps with sequential indicators add a premium feel. These changes make the SUV look wider and more modern while retaining its rugged appeal.

2. Panoramic Sunroof

One of the biggest highlights of the new Taigun is the large panoramic sunroof that floods the cabin with natural light. It is available on the higher variants.

It comes with a summer function that helps keep the interior cooler by venting hot air before you step in.

3. Premium Interiors with Ambient Lighting

The cabin features dual-tone dashboard layouts, soft-touch materials and contrast stitching.

GT variants get an all-black interior theme with red embroidery and laser red ambient lighting. The interiors use easy-to-clean materials suitable for Indian conditions.

Storage spaces, USB-C ports and other practical elements are carried over with minor refinements.

4. Intelligent Voice Assistant

Volkswagen has added a new AI-based voice assistant named “Hello Volkswagen”.

It understands natural language commands for controlling the AC, music, navigation and other functions without the driver looking away from the road.

The assistant works with the infotainment system and supports hands-free operation. This feature improves safety in city traffic and on highways.

5. Larger Digital Displays and Better Infotainment

The updated model gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It is paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver's display that shows navigation, vehicle information and customisable themes. The system supports voice commands and offers improved responsiveness. These displays are offered from the mid variants.

The setup provides clear information in varying light conditions and integrates connected car features for convenience during daily use and long drives.

6. Ventilated and Powered Front Seats

Higher variants offer six-way electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation.

The cooling function helps maintain comfort during hot-weather drives. The powered adjustment allows quick setting of the driving position.

It is available from the Topline and GT variants onwards.

7. New Eight-Speed Automatic Transmission

The 1.0-litre TSI engine now offers an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission, replacing the previous six-speed unit.

Volkswagen states this delivers around 5.8% better fuel efficiency, with smoother shifts during stop-go traffic and highway cruising. This change aims to reduce running costs and improve drivability in typical Indian driving conditions.

The 1.5-litre TSI continues with the seven-speed DSG automatic.

8. Infinity LED Tail Lamps with Welcome Animations

The rear lights feature a new Infinity LED design with sequential indicators and welcome/goodbye light animations, with an illuminated Volkswagen logo present at the rear.

These elements improve visibility from behind and add a distinctive look at night. The lights are standard across variants, with animations available from mid trims.

9. Rear Disc Brakes on 1.5-litre Variants

The 1.5-litre TSI models now come with rear disc brakes instead of drums, improving raking performance significantly.

Additionally, the GT variants feature red brake callipers for a sporty appeal.

10. Strong Safety Package

Safety remains solid in the Taigun, with the SUV retaining its 5-star Global NCAP rating and over 40 safety features.

Some of the standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, multi-collision brakes, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts and front and rear parking sensors with a camera.

The structure and active systems provide protection suitable for Indian road conditions.
