How To Get A Free Gear Position Indicator For Your Royal Enfield 350 cc

Published July 21, 2026

Royal Enfield has resumed the installation of the gear position indicator on certain 350cc motorcycles after overcoming supply issues that had briefly impacted the feature's accessibility.
Qualified owners can now have the component installed at no cost at any authorized Royal Enfield service center.
Bikes That Are Eligible For The Upgrade
The update is available to these Royal Enfield models produced after August 2025:
- Classic 350
- Meteor 350
- Hunter 350
- Goan Classic 350
The Bullet 350 is excluded from this update since it never had a gear position indicator, even prior to the supply shortage. Eligibility is based on the bike's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), so owners should verify with their closest authorized service center to confirm if their motorcycle is included in this campaign.

What Is a Gear Position Indicator and Why Does It Matter?

A gear position indicator shows the active gear on the instrument panel, helping riders determine the right time to upshift or downshift. It serves as a helpful tool especially for novices, as it prevents riding in inappropriate gears and enhances the performance, efficiency, and convenience of daily commutes.
Background and Customer Impact
Last year, Royal Enfield briefly halted the installation of the gear position indicator due to a scarcity of rare-earth elements needed to produce the part.
The company had guaranteed customers that after resolving the supply chain problems, it would upgrade the feature on impacted motorcycles without any extra charges.
With component availability returned to normal, Royal Enfield has now started fulfilling that promise, ensuring that eligible owners receive the same level of functionality as later production models.
