Government Releases Revised CAFE III Draft Norms For Public Consultation

The Ministry of Power has released the revised CAFE III draft norms for passenger vehicles, proposed to take effect from April 1, 2027. The draft introduces phased fuel-efficiency targets, a compliance credit trading mechanism, and incentives for EVs, hybrids, and flex-fuel vehicles, while also recognising ethanol and biofuels as carbon-neutral for the first time.
