Maruti Suzuki Eeco Overview

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco is offered with multiple seating configurations intended for passenger transport and utility use. Depending on the variant, it is available in 5 or 6-seater layouts.
Inside, the cabin is arranged across multiple rows with a simple layout designed for passenger accommodation and everyday use. Entry and exit are supported through wide door openings and a rear access area for passengers and luggage.
In terms of amenities, interior equipment varies by variant and may include air conditioning, a heater, reclining front seats with driver seat slide adjustment, integrated front headrests, assist grips, sunvisors, cabin lamps, and seat-back pockets on AC variants.
Power wise, it comes from a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, available with petrol or factory-fitted CNG on select variants.
Finally, safety includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminders, and three-point seatbelts for all seats.
Engine and Performance
All Eeco models use the same K12N 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine. Broadly, the engine meets current emission norms and is tuned for consistent performance in stop-go traffic or light highway loads.
In petrol tune, it produces 82 hp at 6000 rpm and 105.5 Nm at 3000 rpm, whereas the CNG version makes 72 hp and 95 Nm. Both run through a 5-speed manual transmission only.
fuel economy
ARAI-certified figures show the Eeco petrol returning 19.71 km per litre across all variants. Similarly, the CNG variant (available on the 5-seater AC) is rated at 26.78 km per kg.
For fuel capacity, the petrol tank is 32 litres and the CNG cylinder holds 65 litres water equivalent.
interior
The Eeco’s dashboard is flat and functional with hard plastics and clear control layout for easy reach while driving. The steering wheel gets a basic two-spoke design fitted only with a steering lock for security, with no audio or cruise controls.
Because no infotainment system or touchscreen is present, the cabin relies on the instrument panel for all information. Also, the instrument cluster contains a digital display, multi-tripometer, digital speedometer, illuminated hazard switch and 12-volt accessory socket.
For seating, front seats offer reclining adjustment and sliding travel for the driver along with integrated headrests. Meanwhile, second-row seating uses fixed pillow-type headrests; the 6-seater adds a third row with identical fixed pillow headrests.
This rear space accommodates passengers comfortably with 3-point ELR seat belts on all positions and seat-back pockets on the co-driver seat in AC variants.
Regarding amenities, a heater is fitted as standard across all variants, including the base non-AC models. Furthermore, a cabin air filter is standard on AC models, while both-side sunvisors, assist grips and modded roof lining improve everyday usability.
Storage is basic but practical with door pockets and a front cabin lamp. As for the lighting, both the front and rear cabin lamps are present as standard.
exterior
The Eeco is 3675 mm long, 1475 mm wide and 1825 mm tall (unladen) with identical 1290 mm front and rear track. From the front, the Eeco gets a simple grille flanked by headlamps with manual leveling.
The side profile is tall and boxy with large glass areas for visibility, front mud flaps and body-coloured outside rear view mirrors on both sides. Here, sliding doors (where fitted) and upright pillars emphasise the van’s people-carrying purpose.
Below, the 155 R13C 8PR tyres sit under centre-cap wheel covers.
At the rear, it carries basic tail lamps, and a high mount stop lamp for added visibility in traffic.
safety
The Eeco comes with ABS and EBD, dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags, and front seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters. Alongside this, ESP is standard in all variants. Also, all rear seats get 3-point ELR belts with seat-belt reminder and buzzer for front and rear occupants.
Other equipment includes an immobiliser, side impact beams, child lock for sliding doors and windows, brake warning system, speed alert system and high mount stop lamp.
Additionally, reverse parking sensors also come fitted as standardacross the range.
As for crash tests, it received a 0 star adult occupant protection and 2 star child occupant protection ratings from the Global NCAP.
However this model was tested with no airbags in 2016, the current model may perform better in safety.
competition
The Eeco competes closely with the Tata Magic and Mahindra Supro in its segment.
The Magic provides stronger commercial durability and slightly higher payload capacity in its people-mover variant. Meanwhile the Eeco leads with lighter kerb weight, tighter 4.5 m turning radius and Maruti’s widespread service network.
The Supro matches the van layout and utility focus but lacks a factory CNG option in most trims, whereas the Eeco holds the edge in certified 26.78 km/kg efficiency and lower overall running costs.
