The fourth-generation Hyundai i20 has officially debuted in Brazil shortly after its images surfaced online. Built on Hyundai-Kia’s K3 platform, which also underpins the India-spec Kia Seltos, the new hatchback features a major redesign, updated technology, and improved practicality. Initially, production will be limited to the Brazilian market.

The new i20 is offered with two 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine options. The entry-level naturally aspirated unit produces up to 80hp and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while higher variants receive a 115hp turbocharged direct-injection engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both engines are compatible with Brazil’s ethanol-blended fuel.

Feature highlights include LED lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, connected car technology, OTA updates, and six airbags as standard. Higher trims add Hyundai’s SmartSense ADAS suite, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Measuring 4,130mm long, the new i20 is larger than its predecessor while retaining the same wheelbase. It also offers a bigger 346-litre boot. Inside, the hatchback gets a redesigned dashboard, dual-screen setup, new steering wheel, and improved cabin materials. Prices in Brazil range from approximately ₹18.8 lakh to ₹26.3 lakh, though Hyundai has not announced plans for an India launch.
